terracottacactus Posted January 3, 2014 Any idea if you can find Ariocarpus or Astros locally? Seed or cacti is cool, I'm still not too keen on buying seed from OS and trying to keep it local. I'm sure I saw an astro at bunnings a while back but passed it up at the time because I was going through my columnar faze. I'm kicking myself now though... upside Posted January 3, 2014 Hey TC, Bunnings definitely have Astros occasionally. I've purchased 2 ornate bishop Astros and 2 A.myriostigmas in the past. The bishops are fine but the myriostigmas both ended up,, or came with rot from the inside out. I'm sure that was Bunnings fault from over watering as they do :/ good luck with the Ario's... I'm still keen for some Pere's tho :-) Cheers

Ethnopiate Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Newb alert! Please be gentle with me. G'day WA, glad to see a forum like this in existence! Looking forward to expanding my ethnobotanical collection of rare and endangered plants. I have been trying to find a particular sage for a long time with concerted effort but alas, to no avail... Any help appreciated, I now have quite a collection of interesting bits and pieces for trade too. PM's welcomed. On that, my challenge is everything I have is in pots, raised off the hot paving and in light coloured pots (not the el cheapo black cookers!) to try stop root burn. My veggies seem to be happy (except my recently gifted dragon fruit!) but have the added benefit of me being able to control their light/shade levels by moving them around when needed. The drawback is slightly smaller yield due to root restrictions but it's manageable. Thank you all and I look forward to being a part of such a valuable, ethical community. [Edited after engaging brain to keyboard filter and heeding good advice] ;) Edited March 19, 2014 by Ethnopiate
