Auxin Posted January 18, 2012 Does harvesting some of the leaves help, harm, or do nothing to production of fruit?
incognito Posted January 18, 2012 I'm out. My garden has gone to shit since I've been working Hekkers hours. After school hold I'll wade out amongst the 2m high weeds and see if it's still alive.
GoOnThen Posted January 18, 2012 Looking good hillbilly and shroomeup I have had heaps of flowers and have tried pollinating four or five females but they look like they are going to grow and then they shrivel up and die How are you guys doing the pollination? Cheers Got
El Presidente Hillbillios Posted January 18, 2012 yeah i pollinated em all by hand, the female flowers arent usually mature enough to accept polination on the first day of opening and make sure you have a male with plenty of pollen. I dont think taking leaves makes any difrence if you vine is big enough. but if its only small i think it does slow them down a bit.

El Presidente Hillbillios Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) I just know something is going to go wrong, maybe horse will get into the vege garden and step on it or summat. I'll come home and a horse will be walking round with pumpkin for a shoe! Edited January 24, 2012 by El presidente Hillbillios
etherealdrifter Posted January 24, 2012 I just know something is going to go wrong, maybe horse will get into the vege garden and step on it or summat. I'll come home and a horse will be walking round with pumpkin for a shoe! or you'll wake up on sunday morning wearing a pumpkin fedora, a matching pumpkin fascinator with butterfly motif, a pumpkin rind bracelet will be hanging of your massive feminine hands, all while eating pumpkin soup from a pumpkin fruitbowl, with ricotta stuffed ,deep fried pumpkin flowers on the side with a loaf of pastadura. hb says"I gotta stop doing that!"

fheenix Posted January 28, 2012 I have a Butternut that I call DonkeyKong. I have other types pumpkins but all my others are average to below average. I might try hand pollinating though as I dont have a high yield, ...not sure if this will lead to smaller pumpkins?

Mt.B Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) I didn’t bother entering coz I’m growing for food not size and I thought the growing conditions would have been better elsewhere. There’s been a bumper crop here! Some good sized Jarrahdales that I will post soon. The vines are starting to die off, not long now till harvest.
