synchromesh Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) Anyone? How about any of the other books by Stephen Buhner? Edited August 5, 2011 by synchromesh
Sallubrious Posted August 5, 2011 I haven't read it yet Synchro, but it does sound like a good read. I just read a review on it and one paragraph of the review struck a chord with me as I have an interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The book is based on a wonderfully insightful concept of the “intelligence of the heart.” Recent discoveries in neuroscience have proven that more than 50% of the heart is comprised of neural cells. It is from our hearts that we process our energetic connection to everything we come in contact with. The problem is that we have cut ourselves off from this connection by allowing ourselves to be caught up in our rational, analytical minds. In TCM the heart and the mind are connected and often referred to heart-mind. Many modern afflictions are thought to stem from the severing of contact between the two. So it's got my attention. It would have a place in my library for sure. BTW I can't say I've read any of his other work.
synchromesh Posted August 5, 2011 Yeah, that's true. The heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain does for the heart. Interesting, eh.

If it grabs your interest i would definitely recomend it. for those who like a spiritual element with their science fix. the science is spelled out for the layman. has a lot of poetry, goethe, thoreau, fukuoka. generally a good read. Roopey Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) This book looks fantastic. Anyone interested in this should also look into Pharmako/Poeia: Plant Powers, Poisons, and Herbcraft by Dale Pendell. Great read. Extremely poetic and well researched. He talks a lot about what he calls the "poison path" which of course is a path that most people on this website are already on. Roopey Posted November 3, 2011 This is honestly one of the best reads that I've come across in years, and that is saying a lot. I've only read it the once, but the perspectives that it offers are truly eye opening. Thank you Synchro for pointing this out.
