interbeing Posted April 9, 2012 wicked thread! nice hoodia, looks big. whats the 3rd shot in 5th row, last post? very attractive Thank you to all for the good vibes :)Not sure what that one is.The cutting came from Dawsons, if anyone has any idea what it might be that would be great. Just planted that one in the ground a couple of weeks ago after it not growing much in the pot so I'm hoping It takes off next year. Wholey crap that is a veery impressive collection you have sir! What species is the 9th one from the bottom in the last set of pics!? I dont know the name of it but I have one that looks almost identical but is a spiral form..? Kudo's to you mate! RF That one is a Pelecyphora aselliformis that I scored from a grower last year, pretty rare plant, I think he said it was six years old. Got any pics of your plant? peace
Chef's Foreskin Posted April 9, 2012 Got any pics of your plant? I don't at the moment because I'm in a different state at the moment then I normally would be but once I am home I will post some, I think I know where I can find a pic but it's not mine so I'll have a look and post later. How long have you been collecting? RF

interbeing Posted April 9, 2012 All good mate. I think It's been about five years, started off with a couple of cuttings and a loph and then fell in love
Chef's Foreskin Posted April 9, 2012 Haha I know what you mean, I started off with a loph and some other regular ornamental's and then BAM. But to get a true collection I had to find many different diverse forum's like this one to aquire named clones or "bless his soul" pereskiopsis (from this forum) I can't stop now at Loph's and Trich's I need more! It's a worry ;) RF

qualia Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) nice plants. far right on the top, is that just a bridgesii gone a bit monstrose or some sort of name clone? it's chunky, i like it. row 7, col 3: is that the same clone? it's beautiful, the spines seem really golden along the whole plant. Halcyon Daze Posted April 9, 2012 Can I ask, What is this one. I think I have one very similar that came from Bunnings
interbeing Posted April 9, 2012 Got that one as a Trichocereus glaucus from the SAB store
Halcyon Daze Posted April 9, 2012 Sweet as, cheers!
totemgoat Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) halcyon daze, it might be worth checking out Trichocereus Cuzcoensis as a possibility for your cactus. cuzcos are a pretty common bunnings cactus, whereas finding a glaucus seems pretty unlikely to me. they also share some features seen in the above glaucus, particularly the shape of its vegetative growth. amazing cacti by the way interbeing, can only hope i reach such a spectacular collection one day. Halcyon Daze Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) Well I agree 100% with what you just said totemgoat but this is the first tricho I ever got from Bunnings and I've never been able to ID it. I thought it was probably just a hybrid. The striped spines turn white pretty quick and it has one or two longer spines. It's mean-ass & barbed like a motherf*@%er. Here's an old shot What do you reckon. Is this Trichocereus glaucus??? Edited April 9, 2012 by Halcyon Daze
totemgoat Posted April 9, 2012 at a guess i'd say cuzco, i'm not knowledgable enough to tell for sure though. notice how the photo you've shown has smaller spines surrounding the one larger one? most of the photos i've seen of what's labelled as trichocereus glaucus show one large spine at the top with fewer smaller spines below it. if you're still wondering, i'd say create a new thread in the cactus ID area. this thread is really for admiring interbeing's cacti, and if you post it as an ID request, you'll probably have a definite answer from someone more experienced than i before you know it. mutant Posted April 10, 2012 the 't. glaucus' looks a bit like mine also from sab, but in mine the spines are not golden like that, they're somewhat reddish when they appear.. not sure time will show! - or not
Chef's Foreskin Posted April 11, 2012 That Hoodia Gordonii looks lovely! I may just have to search for some seed now! Cheer's RF

woof woof woof Posted April 13, 2012 I once many years ago had T Glaucus orderd from K. Knize directly from him in Peru. And I must say that what I had looked different from the pics. Karel Knize has the terribile habit for mislabeling things, so that can be 1 reason for me to have it wrong, but from personal experience from seeing pics over the years I'd be leaning more towards Cuzco type. The cacti labled T Glaucus that I had from KK had less dense spinniation,... and the lenght between spines allong the ribs was further appart.
interbeing Posted April 23, 2012 but from personal experience from seeing pics over the years I'd be leaning more towards Cuzco type. From what I've seen of T.glaucus pics online mine looks quite different, definitely more of a cuzco type looking plant
