etherealdrifter Posted November 3, 2010 r rair gamoto:P orftee inair poli or rareyo what vlakas is this ??? ela parm mairr sto carfa nee o ya cafathaki liga tsipa a ro
mutant Posted November 3, 2010 (edited) heheheh you didn't get them exactly, vlakas, cafethaki and vlakas you're spot on. 'afto inae poly oraeo' = this is very good 'pamae ya' = let's go for tsigaro = cigarette tsipouro = traditional alc. drink an essential one is also " re malaka " which literaly means asshole, but we include it pretty often in every sentence, it shows familiarity, it's a figure of speech of some kind so it would be something like "re malaka, afto inae poly oraeo! pamae ya tsigaro ke tsipouro" lol thanks for replies Edited November 3, 2010 by mutant

Fluss Posted December 18, 2010 pilosocereus.... do they have any, alkaloid contents? I have a very similar cacti, would be good to know if I should let it be half neglected... or make it's growingconditions a bit better
mutant Posted December 18, 2010 No I don't think they have any interesting alkaloids. They make decent graft stock though and they are beauties. As they grow, some species grow hair.
tripsis Posted December 19, 2010 Top shots and lovely cacti mutant. I especially love the werdermannianus.
bℓσωηG Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) How old are the T.werdermannius from seed mutant? I am so jealous , i am trying to get some T.werdermannianus seed now, last lot i got turned out to be Echinopsis werdermannianus even though it was labeled (Tricho) Also nice Oreocereus trolli! What is the last pic? an Espostoa? Edited December 19, 2010 by blowng
mutant Posted December 19, 2010 thanks blowng, the wendermanianus history is further analyzed here but in short, it's 2,5 y.o, as of: 6 months or so own roots, 1 year graft on pere, not really long stock actually and one year own roots. It has definately shown impressive growth on its own roots. It will be a sweet comparison to observe long term. Same with terscheckii which was much slower on graft and maybe had a defect graft or something. last pic>>>> I have no idea, as of yet. Maybe it is an Espostoa it was just 7cm high or so when a nursary owner from another city give it for free to me, it was the only cactus he got, lol. It still had the silicone from that awful phony flowers they stick to them. I grew it, it put on some ribs back then, and it's 60+ cm tall now . It holds a special place in my collection. I have it 2,5 years also.

herbal_hindsight Posted December 19, 2010 "i am trying to get some T.werdermannianus seed now, last lot i got turned out to be Echinopsis werdermannianus even though it was labeled (Tricho) I am confused from reading this as my understanding was Trichocereus was AKA Echinopsis and Vice Versa... I didn't realise they were two seperate genus'? I.E. Trichocereus pachanoi [syn. Echinopsis pachanoi] I find the taxonomical world of cacti confusing at the best of times... lol
mutant Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) yep taxonomically the correct is Echinopsis But Trichocereus is still used as a name to refer to the biggy columnar of the genus. there are problems with Echinopsis, f.e. there is an Echinopsis wendermanianus already which is different from Trichocereus wendermanianus which is a large columnar.
