HEY U , computer nerd!

Recommended Posts

Yeah just a quickie - if anyone thinks InternetExplorer having a mind of its own is a goodthing or has my arse been hacked ,tried googling but found that results required basic literacy skills and multiple searches :)

Cheers

So you are suddenly directed to porn pages and fake virus scanner downloads, and you have 20 dating site popups auto load when you start IE??

My suggestion is this:

1: never use IE again

2: head over to filehippo.com

3: download a free virus scanner + skyware removal tool pick one of the many, i suggest...

AVG Free edition http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

and Ad-Aware http://www.filehippo.com/download_ad-aware/

3: install / update/ scan / fix

4: do all your surfing from a real internet browser like google chrome or firefox, both very simple to isntall and use.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/

http://www.filehippo.com/download_google_chrome/

I persionaly LOVE google chrome so i suggest you choose that over firefox :) loads alot faster i find, you should also notice the difference.

Hope this helps, spyware is a bitch.

Download firefox and try that.

But you could have something else going on there man.

It could be time for some up to date virus/malware software and maybe even a fresh install of windows.

Or you could install Linux

if he's using IE he's probably not ready for linux...

apart from that the above advice sounds good. reformat if you can. if not then get some antivirus/antispyware happening and stop using IE.

As the others have suggested, change to a different browser. I prefer Firefox because I do not like Chrome's statistics collection (the browser will report back to Google with information for Google Ads no matter how you try and restrict it). Once you have Firefox I would recommend downloading NoScript (once configured with your usual sites it is barely noticeable) and AdBlockPlus which are add-ons for the browser, these will help protect you from drive-by scripting attacks.

MalwareBytes is a handy program to try and remove your current infestation however it can only detect some current rootkits such as TDSS and TDS3 without removing them so if that happens just google the name of the rootkit and generally there is a method to clean your system.

Winpatrol is another useful utility, this is like a much more secure task manager with security features and it can really help in the discovery and identification of spyware.

If none of this works you might have to try a system restore and if the malware has deleted previous restore points you may have to format. Or you could just use linux like all the cool guy like me.

best advice youl get ;sell your pc and get a mac !!

This is actually bad advice. Macs have a growing malware market and due to arrogance on the user's side most Macs are completely unprotected. Not to mention the fact that once you are infected, you are screwed because of the walled garden environment that Apple likes to push on its customers.

i bought a mac about 2 years ago (second hand) and have had no problems continuily surfing the net and downloading porn my hardrive has 3 gb left and i can still competently run programs such as logic pro 8 (50 gig soundscapes alone),tractor pro with old mac hardware for live performances

as far as using a browser like google chrome i wouldnt trust it considering the fact that google want to constantly know everything about everything you do

all i can say is stop wasting your life messing around with antivirus,spyware,re-formating your being sold to !!

GET A MAC !!!

Macs solve most internet problems in one foul swoop, their price is not for everyone though, shop for "as new" or last years models on gay bay, make sure to be able to pick it up not have delivered..*IMPORTANT*

I love the mac experience on line, it just allows you to work, study, read whatever, totally unencumbered by shitty crashes or erratic behavior, I'm not a fanboi as such and am really pissed of with all these jerks and their iphones...blah blah app this that app that..oh I'm soooooo cool look what I can do..people blathering on and on at work about how they got an iphone and it's completely changed their lives...ppffft, it's a buggy piece of dog droppings as far as I can see, maybe they will get it right by version 10, until then these fools can have their practice versions to play with...LMFAO, the "DEARH GRIP VERSION " is now available for those that like drop outs...

Grab an imac for home net use, can't go wrong...and use, firefox, scroogle, proxies and a router.

lol chiral

i've got too much knowledge invested in PC, but maybe mac is good for people that aren't nerds. it's no secret that mac is good for media for example if you wanna produce music and videos.

but i dispute most accusations leveled at PC. people that sook usually haven't formatted in four years, run random .exe's from the internet and don't do any maintenance (they have about 10 items running in the taskbar). PC is cool, just get half a clue.
