Tags: alþingi, gay, gay marriage, human rights, Iceland Althingi, the parliament of Iceland, this afternoon voted to change the country’s marriage laws. 49 of the country’s 63 MPs voted in favour of the bill and none voted against. The law changes the wording of the law so that marriage is the legal union of two individuals and not only of a man and a woman. It was also decided to end the country’s system of registered partnerships for same-sex couples, meaning marriage will become their only option – as was always the case for opposite-sex couples. Althingi members welcomed the move after the vote, saying today is a great day for everybody everywhere involved in the struggle for gay rights and human rights generally. The bill will go to the President for ratification; but that is a formality as the Icelandic President has only twice sent a bill to public referendum in the history of the Republic of Icelandic. Also, public opinion polls suggest the marriage bill is extremely popular. Iceland’s Prime Minister, Johanna Sigurdardottir, became the world’s first openly gay leader in February 2009. dworx Posted June 22, 2010 Marriage is by the "state" God has been no part of marriage for a long time. We get married with the States permission, marriage Application, License, Certificate and fees adds up to CONTRACT. Failure to comply with Contract incurs fines in courts ie DIVORCE etc it is not sanctified at any level and the churches are a part of the business of marriage. Any one can marry in Common Law you just need a priest [use this word loosely, you might say a preacher or someone of God] and you marry before God [not before the State] and he just needs to write the details in your new FAMILY BIBLE.. Just because the law says the marriage is not legal, does not mean it isn't sanctified by God. About 1/5th of US states still have sodomy banned and its punishable by anything from a fine to mandatory jail time. The supreme court overturned those laws in theory but a federal law was never made to set that in stone so people can still be arrested and go to trial, and yes in most states it includes straight butt sex or even just slipping your thumb in your girls ass. The foolishness doesnt stop there, alabama banned all sex aids and to sell a vibe there it has to be marketed as a motorized drink stirrer "shaken, not vibrated" I wonder how they sell 'fleshlights', perhaps as spark plug cleaning devices In many states we have 'romeo and juliet laws' where if two kids the same age under 16 or 18 have sex they can go to jail. A few states are even so fanatical that when they caught 14 year old girls video taping themselves masturbating, while alone, in their bedroom, the girls were tried and convicted not only of producing child pornography but also of raping themselves because since they were underage they 'couldnt consent to sex with themselves and therefore comitted rape', they were sentenced to jail for several months to years.And on the lighter side, Montana passed a anti-bestiality law so poorly worded that it bans all humans from having sex with each other because the law bans 'any person from having sexual relations with any animal' but they didnt define 'animal' and the literal definition includes other human beings Its a strange, strange country 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Unreal this entire time i thought it was accepted/legal for gays to get married in Australia 0_o. Is this just in regards to "Christian" marriages or the actual relivent government bodies do not honour it? Like i mean there are thousands of religion's catholics and Christians not even being the biggest, Can Gays be De-Facto?? As a Ordained minister of Universal Life Church i can preform marriage's all around the world, in most country's but Australia, in Australia the minister needs to be registered as a wedding celebrant with the relivent government bodies... But in Australia i can "legally" preform "arranged marriges"..... With out any registration.. so i was told..... how bizzare.. (I am deadly serious sounds bizarre, how twisted is that) so what if a gay was to have a "arranged" marriage... how would the law see that? whats marriage mean anyway.... Heck in america a random public member can go and get a 1day marriage license to preform there family members wedding.. The law.. the government all this crap is completely inrelivent to life, law and justice are 2 different things, non of it has any real power, jsut liek amrrige it holds no real power in the grand scale of things.. it just effects your healthcare and benefits and loans and such... Non of this is real. Stop giving it power, 2 homosexuals can go live in a hut in the bush for the rest of there life's happily and get married by the local kookaburra, its all jsut as relive to the higher power. Sorry I went of topic a bit... partly from the shock in finding out Australia doesn't accept gay marriages who the fuck do the government think they are.. Boycott the government! If they just learn to live, they will see marriage is between two people, It has nothing at all to do with God, Religion, and definitely nothing to do with the Gov't. The reason marriage is detailed in the front of a bible [in common law] is just that the couple believes in God, his book is the bible so they are married by Gods law and no man can undo that,[because they believe in God]. So if you don't have a belief system you can still have a union but it is a union by choice that is marriage still and you can pull it apart when you like. The Gov't wants to remove that control because it feeds their fiscal system, pay the marriage permit, the church, the certificate etc the divorce the courts the lawyers, barristers, real estate agents etc etc So people marry in your own terms, No church, no Govt just a mutual love, you can still document your agreement if you need security for your material possessions etc??? You can call it defacto or just tell people you are married it doesn't matter if your Gay, straight, bi-, but take it out of the system, It does not belong there. We own our emotions our heart & soul don't give them access to any of that. Just go in as friends and if it doesn't work out go out as friends, don't become a money spinner for the system cos that is why we have become so fucked up, so far away from the natural world... Yeah sorry that is my rant, I was gonna delete it but thought, if someone doesn't like my view on this too bad.. tell me I am wrong, it wont change my view on marriage. If I was Gay I would want equality and the right to marry the one I love, because love is meant to be Universal, so everyone is entitled to there own love in peace, why create so much hurt because he doesn't like girls "that's not normal" .... really who fucking cares so long as you find your own happiness..
