ThunderIdeal Posted September 8, 2009 born at the same time !! poor mum she must be pretty wide below now...sorta figured it was the dna that was the same, although as a recent case has shown mum could have a threesome and have her eggs fertlised by two different men at around about the same time creating twins with different dna profiles. lol, same time twins can have different genes anyway. sometimes they are two conceptions during the one cycle, eg more than one egg is released and fertilised. they are non-identical twins, and for idle chitchat, you could achieve the same thing with one father knocking up two female identical twins at the same time. the offspring would have different mothers, but their mothers are genetic clones and their father is the same man. or two twin fathers as well. if i'm not mistaken, you would not be able to identify the childrens' parents by their dna. isn't it possible, although very unlikely, that you could be somebodies distant cousin and their very combination of chromosomes could be formed out of your parents.. and you could even receive that exact combination of the same chromosomes? to me this seems theoretically possible. " Yes santiago, I do not believe you'd be able to distinguish the mother if they were identical twins. Unless they had genetic mutations occur as a zygote or somewhere else along the line that meant all their cells had a slightly different base sequence. Even a single base substitution can be detected, as it can mean that restriction enzymes may no longer recognise and cut at that sequence, or vice versa. Thunder.. I don't see the point in your last paragraph working. Cousins are only related by one relative.. Even if your mums are sisters, you still both have different dads, so how could your dad provide the same genes as your cousin's dad who is completely unrelated?
