kindness Posted May 5, 2009 Yeah, nice one wish I lived near there... if someone does perhaps we could all chip in and get some nice cuttings each? Might need to get a better picture of it first though from the seller. Heres a link to another ebay cactus. Four years old my arse! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Rare-Button-Cactus-...3%3A1|294%3A200

bit Posted May 6, 2009 Looks like pachanoi to me. Cheapish, but it'll be a bastard to get out in once piece for sure.
mr b.caapi Posted May 7, 2009 Its gotta be a Bridgesii eh ! look at the length of the spines !

Chiral Posted May 7, 2009 How bout we all chip in say 20 bucks each and bid on it and who ever lives closest goes and picks it up brings it back and gives all the donors a nice big cutting and the driver and collector can keep the rest. what dya reckon guys that way we can be almost assured of gettin it as hardly anyone else will bid and it it comes in at $100 is the winning bid and there are 10 donors of 20 bucks then the other 10 bucks can cover postage... I'll chuck in ...anyone else...?
gilligan Posted May 7, 2009 I'll chuck in ...anyone else...? I'm in H... good idea...
KanJe Posted May 7, 2009 I'll chuck in but I don't have an ebay acct so someone else will have to bid. I am happy to pick it up and distribute it though.
kindness Posted May 7, 2009 Yeah I'm in - if VS is keen to be the collector of money and do the postage and handling? $20 from me if thats the case
hebrew Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) yeah cool alright lets do it then. i asked for a close up of spines and they said they will provide them on sunday. im not far from there, so its cool plus i ma heading out that area not this sunday next. so can get it then so 6 of us so far, lets say max of 10 and that way we can bid up 100 bucks if it goes for more i will pay the rest, then go 10 ways in that cactus. watertrade as well so that is 7. do you think? i will ask if i can get a few cuttings from that one next to it as well when i am there. hebrew Posted May 7, 2009 my guess is that is it a bridgesii as well going by the spines like b caapi said
Chiral Posted May 8, 2009 yep I'm in...I actually asked the vendor if he is planning on selling any cuts of the one next to it but as yet he hasn't replied...so we all chuck in 20 bucks if if it goes for more let us know the difference between the extra 10 bucks and postage and we'll whip the extra cash of to ya....yeah looks bridgesii but also looks like a long spined pach too. you will need some sorta van to haul that much cactus and it's root ball and someone to help you too, so grab a friend, some shovels and a trailer or ute maybe. ayjay101 Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) I'm in too, I think that makes 10 of us I'm happy to chip in $20. As Bit said, it will be a real bastard to dig out properly, would be much easier taking cuttings to re-root. Cool, let me know how I can be of assistance - I'm in front of a PC all day and have won my fair share of ebay auctions. I think the best tact is to lay quiet for the auction, then put your maximum bid in with about 5 seconds to go. Dibs on not doing the pick up bit though... Cheers Edited May 8, 2009 by ayjay101
