AndyAmine. Posted March 20, 2009 FYI there is a big difference between Rye Grass Seed and Rye Grain Rye Grain is used a lot for jars, bulk substrates and grain2grain transfers etc Rye Grass Seed (RGS) is mostly used for growing sclerotia and/or myc under sterile conditions for longer periods because it has a good contamination resistance. RGS is often found in bird seed along with other good things, the budgie mix's seem to be one of the better choices. Be sure to look for antifungals. I have heard of people using it successfully without sterilisation.
