Sávio Nunes et al. 1982 (via GC-MS) so this piptadenia could have the highest trustworthy reading for dmt in anaden/piptadenia seeds? this seemed worth posting too....... Brosmium acutifolium Huber subsp. acutifolium C.C.Berg [Moracaea] "takini" Bufotenine was found to be present in the variety but not in the parent species. The white latex was found to contain only 0.7 µg of bufotenine per ml. The red latex was found to contain 23.4-25 µg of bufotenine per ml. Bufotenine is not found to be present in the bark. Novice shamans drink the latex and smoke the bark but later in life apparently only drink the latex. Only the frothy red latex is used. The translucent white latex that preceeds it when the tree is tapped is discarded. Bufotenine is believed to be the active component even though only a total of 12.5 mg was present in the 500 ml portion of red latex consumed. [kt: More work seems to be needed to assess the impact of other components including the possible role of the smoking of bark by novices.] The drink produced a strongly sedative component in addition to its hallucinogenic action. Moretti et al. 2006 seems to be brosimum elsewhere? t s t . Edited February 19, 2009 by t st tantra
Neoshaman Posted February 23, 2009 Piptadenia gonoacantha hard to find any decent info ( or maybe i'm just brain dead from having only half an hours sleep after soundwave and then going to work ) Are seeds available in Australia I absolutely love growing thing like this it gives one much more appreciation of a plant to grow from seed.. A number of other species containing said chemicals seem to have flucuations in the level of those chemicals is there enough research floating round to verify whether or not this occurs for Piptadenia gonoacantha
t st tantra Posted February 23, 2009 bit not withit post heat wave, didnt even consider they had not used the name anadenanthera perigrina v falcata? i'd assume most plants containing similar substances were variable, best treated as individuals, and even then maybe varying with season ,time of day ,maturity of plant[parts] and different climatic conditions. t s t .
