ID 'white gills blue staining.'

I saw this while walking around yesterday. It was in the same pad as a few cubes. The only difference is it had white gills and minimal noticable spores. Those which can be seen were from another one which i brushed it against when picking for this photo. It stained blue nearly instantly. Any chance on an ID?

I also saw a single blue meanie growing with around 4 cubensis from the same pad however i did not have a camera. All in all an interesting walk though the hills.

I can't tell for sure because i don't normally look or find cubes, but people do find sterile cubes, which are like normal ones except they don't sporulate and the gills stay creamy white. If you're confident in all the other cube-like features then it's probably one of these sterile cubes.

That looks very much like a cube mate, except for the gills but I think they come that way sometimes, chances are you found so many cubes you don't even need that one (as is usually the case with outdoor picking) so why not play it safe and toss it back.

Yeah, looks like its just sterile.

Found a patch of P.subaeruginosa like that once.

ineteresting. i ran into a few of these when hunting, looked identical to a cube but had white gills. i was unsure if it was a lookalike or what so threw it away.
