Question

Hey guys, my flamingo found these puppies this morning, It has rained the entire day yesterday and during the night. i don't think there subs as havn't noticed any blue bruising and are an orangy colour. They were found amongst wood chips in a park, quite cold weather also. Will conduct a spore print asap, any help would be fantastic :D

Looks like Stropharia aurantiaca, not active. Good indicator species though.

Yep Stropharia aurantiaca. Theyd have to be the most common mushroom I come across in mulch beds. I could allmost bet that youll find subs nearby a bit later in the season.

:) Awesome thanks guys, i've been researching subs and just wondering if anyone could help me with a couple questions that cant seem to find answers to.

1) Roughly how much rain and for how long does it need to rain until mushies pop up around the place ?

2) Will i have any luck finding subs in the Sydneys eastern suburbs, if anyone has any spots that they don't use could you please PM me with details?

Thanks guys :)

A good long downpour and a couple of cold damp days is all that's really needed, and you will find them in the eastern suburbs if you're lucky.

After the mycorrhizae get a good soaking, as long as winter keeps cold and damp, they'll continue. Long periods of sunny days and high wind will slow them right down.
