AFAIK it is illegal, no matter what the intent. Torsten has covered this many times in the past.

There's too much revenue to be gained from tobacco taxes for the powers that be to allow people to grow a plant. It is the same story with the illegality of practically every plant. They always threaten the economic interests of someone.

Yep, sure does.... helps keep prices up and fuckwits down... not such a bad idea after all is it... can't be doing that much harm really, given the last DEA report on Australia had nothing but terrible news of the ready availability of just about anything you could ever want for a weekend

A lot of it has to do with the fact that we dont have central/south america and canada, or their equivalent to supply us with what we need, its nearly all produced "in house" so to speak... so whereas you guys have the scary arse "goooood mooorrnniingg Booolliivvviiaaaa!" legislation, we have ours geared towards "gday Mr. Smith... lovely garden you have there mate... mind if we take a look around?". Or "ok, ok, what are you boys doing in the middle of nowhere with a rotary hoe and 150kg of superphospate?" We also seem to have a less marked division between "criminal" and "legit" elements of society... which means the lawmakers and enforcers are a lot closer to the action so they can make JUST the right (or wrong!) law whenever they need to... check BZP in WA. Mostly if people kept their faces shut and quit the bragging about the superpotent herbal fun they have growing, let alone making essentially hyperbolic claims like "yeah man its even stronger than acid or shrooms!", then maybe we wouldnt have the constant domino effect of law after law after law pertaining to our right to have whatever we want in our gardens.

Of course, what we have on the books and what anyone actually gives a shit about is quite a different story, and we rarely get drug cooks or growers shot on the spot by overzealous rapid response types, let alone 92 year old woman in Atlanta. We also tend to be lacking in street level - mouth fulla rocks kinda dealers (generally...there are exceptions in some areas or times of day n night) and very few dealers here come equipped with submachineguns or pistols. Some do. Most don't, as for a bunch of savage colonials we like to keep things fairly civilised if we can help it.

All in all, keep yourself to yourself and don't screw anyone around, and you can do what you feel like here. Good little system.

Consider yourself invited

it annoying but id still take our laws over the U.S.A.'s any day. as short sighted as it is banning anything and everything im relieved that i dont live in a country that allows children to be tried as adults and sentenced to life without parole. IMO that really sucks....

Now that doesn't sound so bad.
