Cactus man's garden

Recommended Posts

I went to an old blokes place on the weekend, and got a couple of cacti (1.2m bridgies) off of him...

Just thought i'd share the pics i took of his backyard... It had me in absolute awe... He looks like the king of the grusonii... Has sanguarea, big bridgies, and many many others i have no idea of... a really nice bloke to talk to as well...

unsure where you may have seen it... another few bits of info though

His garden has been on Garden Guru's, but i don't know if you guys get that over east...

That barrel cactus is 84 years old, he has another that is 70 and the rest of them are between 15 and 40 years...

He collected a lot of his seeds from overseas in the 60's and 70's. Doesn't know a lot of the names of them, other than the local names for them... I know that when i get a bit more dosh, i is going back there for a barrel and a few others... ;)

That bridgie wasn't the only one, there was another further to the back, slightly smaller, but still frikkin impressive - my two plants were cuts rooted and grown from those :)

(There is a 25cm mid section available for trade if anyone is interested... Swap it for another bridgesii? (outside of the swap section i know, apologies))

As i said before, i was in awe as soon as i got to his backyard - the front is basically just succulents. Grin. at least he's doing his bit for saving water... he doesn't water at all, leaves them to their own devices - treat them mean to keep them keen...

You would have seen those pictures or something like them in one of my posts from feb or march this year when I discovered the cactus heaven.

Yowie and I bought up a load of his bridgesii. He is an awesome old dude.
