Osprey Posted July 10, 2007 Just recieved two huge boxes of cacti from Peru. None had any labels They are suposed to be a mix of shortspined varieties of T.Peruvianus and T.pachanoi. I'm guessing At Least half are Kk339 T.Pachanoi(equador) One tip was broken off(very bitter tasting) I will post more individual pictures tomorrow, and maybe someone can help me seperate them I love my new babies

Osprey Posted July 10, 2007 (edited) the spines are not clipped. they are all just very short spined types passive daemon, you can get cutting shipments to Australia. You just have to deal with cites permits, quarinteen, and shell out alot of cash. Edited July 10, 2007 by Osprey

Torsten Posted July 11, 2007 Lovely not that I actually doubt these to be the real deal, but why would you claim so from a knize shipment? I mean, you don't get more confused/confusing than him .
M S Smith Posted July 11, 2007 Torsten, certainly these plants certainly fit the mold for the T. pachanoi of Ecuador and Peru, and this regardless of what Knize may call them. It's really his own crappy attention to Trichocereus, and his poor labeling, or lack of labels, that causes all the confusion. And I seriously think he has the same plant marked with two different names simply to increase his own sales. Sure there may be some variation among Osprey's plants, but I don't think there is enough to say they aren't the same species. ~Michael~
Osprey Posted July 11, 2007 Torsten, I just titled my post that way because it seemed like a snappy title.
Torsten Posted July 13, 2007 LOL. Did he sell these as seed too? ie, is there a matching KK number?
Osprey Posted July 13, 2007 I really don't know, although I think they are KK339. the language barrier is frustrating. and his responses to questions can be a bit unclear. I'm considering another order, maybe a 50 kg bridgesii variety pack. Is it worth the hassel?.....hmmmm
Jesus On Peyote Posted July 14, 2007 Either way they look awesome. nice catch
Osprey Posted July 15, 2007 here are some pictures of the plants with some larger T.Pachanoi"Kimnach" plants. You can see my method of rooting cuttings, just stick them in sand.
Auntyjack Posted July 15, 2007 I'm considering another order, maybe a 50 kg bridgesii variety pack. LOL....ooh I am jealoous, you make it sound as easy as picking up a BigMac at maccas drive through!!! 'you want fries or nuggets with your bridgesii?' You definately have a cactus thumb Osprey, I can't believe your garden looks so good since the greenhouse cave in... How close have you planted those cuttings...won't they pup out and clash with each other? AJ

How close have you planted those cuttings...won't they pup out and clash with each other? I am only putting them there temporarily. Once they set roots,I will put them in individual pots for the winter. Next year they will get permanent spots in raised beds AJ
