My Recent Trip to Nepal

Recommended Posts

You might find this story funny.

So I was (about 3 weeks ago) in Chitwan national park, in the south of Nepal. It's an amazing place for all sorts of reasons which are not related to this forum, so that will have to wait for another day.

Anyhow I'm riding an elephant with my girlfriend, when we both (almost simultaneously) spot something very interesting. When the elephant safari is over we go back to the village and hire bikes, then pedal out to our find.

Beside the road for hundreds of metres are heaps (and I mean heaps) of elephant turds, some up to 1m or so in diamater due to decay. Anyway these turds are the home of the largest colonies of p. cubensis I have ever seen. Seriously each turd had about 20-30 caps of various sizes up to 20cm in diameter (obviously too big to be useful and verging on purple in hue), but mostly of useable size.

It was like christmas.

Will post some photos if you want and if I get around to it.

Yea ! Get around to it (ie posting photos) This would diminish any ideas that some may have about your claims as a newbie, with reference to cubes growing from pachiderm dung

OK, OK, Here goes.

I hope you like 'em. Elephant turds are go! They don't really reflect the scale of the find, but should give you a rough idea...

Nice pics, are there more ?

Theres is a Nepal/Chitwan strain on ralphsters. Found in a elephant pile aswell.

But a wild print off those big fruits would be tops to look at under the scope.

Thanks for the positive feedback,

Nope no prints. Sorry.

There are other photos and some high res, but the others feature My smiling mug and I could not be bothered photoshopping. Perhaps if and when I get to know you better you can have a look.

That Ammie is truly amazing BTW.
