to my surprize today i came home to find my sierra de la paila starting to flower. just thought i would share some pics. not long till they open :D and other cactus starting to flowering.
-
no idea really. the way the head sits is odd. wnt be surpized if it had a pup that was cut off the lower bit. it was in worse nick when i got it. has gotten alot healther. as was mostly brown but just leaving it outside on clear days and bringing it on cold or wet days has brought back alot of colour to it. that and seaweed extract lil buggers seem to love that stuff. oh and just as note they arent potted that high up. pics was taken after i had come home to find it tipped over thanks to the dogs.... no damage just on its side from were it normally sits and in need of bit more soil.

yeh was ebay tho few months not just finished. got it as the seedlings taking awhile to look like much so wanted a bit bigger one to look at.

about 8yrs old apprently. got it not too long back tho last few weeks sun n seaweed extract made it grow noticeably different to how it was when i got it. got it to grow taller by having the soil down lower so its got a shadow hittin part of it. got a mad as glow to its skin after that harsh sun we got here last few weeks... will update when more happens.

i too have had some bug problems. ive heard of ladybugs being used as a predator to get rid of them and not harm my cactus (or other plants). is this true with loph??? becaused the rose garden has a major bug problem atm (just forgot to spray with some oil to get rid of em) but the ladybugs are every where the lil bastard of bugs are on the rose buds(figure they've come for a feed). so i've caught a few and was thinking of putting them in the fish tank i used for my cactus germination with my affected loph, is this a good idea or not??? as i hav a few loph seeds in there atm for germination. cheers

hey all its that happy1 with aload of questions for ya again haha. ive recently added a few acacia to my seedlings for this season. had many maidenii going fine. the obtusifolia are giving me a few issues. one of which is that they turn purpleish every so often(maidenii & obtusifolia), ive taken a stab in the dark to put this down to the coldness in the night and possible forst in my area (am i correct???) so ive been leaving them inside and they turned back to a nice healthy green. tho the younger of the seedlings have grown tall and thin steams and fallen over. this is due to them growing tall searching for sun light correct???? and so ive been taking them out in morning and back inside during the night. but tonight i noticed that all the leafs had bunched together (more closed up) what would be causing this??? too much sunlight or just leaving them a tad too long in the cold??? my main question is that is there any good links that i can find out what sort of conditions the acacia like and such. also any good books or links that could give me a run down on the typical behaviour of plants in general when im neglicting them and explain what the problem is???(got a few different ones on the grow atm tho the acacia only one that are looking unhealthy atm tho you can never do too much research) heh yes very much a noob at this stuff. it is a new hobby of mine, im a nerd by day but only so long you can sit on a pc for... friend gave me a cactus cutting while back and been stuffin round in the gardern in my spare time ever since (wiring shit flatout at work then come home just to sit infront of more screens drives you insane!!!!) Cheers and thanks again!!! Happy1

dremel with cutting disc or even grinding bit works well. or heating up a tin can. simulacrum fix it with somthing like a screw or tac it up via melting together eg. soldering iron, or what not and then just silcon it up. or hot glue gun it in, did that to hold gloves fixed at holes. ;) cheers

Hey everyone here, Great site been a member for a little while now and loving the site, so rich with information and what not. First post as its the first time i feel i need to ask a question. Now ive got a few cuttings recently my favourite atm is the T.pachanoi that recently flowered. Tho the 2 flowers flowered a day apart and when the 2nd 1 flowered the first was already wilting . also have a T.pachanoi x T.peruvianus hybrid (or so im told by person I purchased it from) and a T.bridgesii. Now my question has to do with the potting mix im using, its a cactus mix that i picked up from bunnings but i fear that it holds water a little too much. I watered the cuttings the other day and the mixture still feels a little damp to the touch. has anyone else used this mixture?? or would recommend me to use another mix or what??? Thanks for the help in advanced, im just so scaried to lose my new beautiful specimens dying or rotting on me. cheers

yeh rudd scares the shit outa me.... seriously think hes tryin to send our country broke.... fukin pumped up grog prices and then lost all the tax paid..... now im a nerd by nature and would love better internet but like u say, is it really needed??? i guess it will create more jobs and such but is it really the right time to be taking on such high debts if the worlds finance is fucked??? and as for the climate... yep its defently gone south, u just have to look at the crazy weather we've had in past years.... then his grand idea to steal the water from the farmers in my area for melb(which most of the dam melboarnons will probly just hose down their drive ways) and not be able to guaranty the poor farmers water rights at all...... what the hell is he thinking??? farming and orchards are the back bone of australia.. if we lose that well we're fucked really.... my area is defently going to fell it. hehe tho i reckon be good if alot of the farmers give up on the oranges and cows and just get some mad weed crops goin hehe more money for less water, makes sense to me haha. just my 2cents. cheers -
well from what i learnt bout g, the seriousness of the od depends on if its ghb or 14b. ghb is acutal ghb molecular where as 14b which your body converts into ghb (in your liver). have seen many a ppl "od" on the 14b and simply just be out of it for 3hrs(as your body will stop convertin it), hell i have myself. and if you od one the ghb then your fuckd as your body wnt just stop makin it. tho dont think that i dont think that it isnt danagerous and was never mixed with grog. now this info mostly came from her say from the usuall rave crew so take it for what its worth tho the 14b part is true i believe (bout it being 14b and your liver processing it, not bout it stoppin wen u g out). the main problem i see is that ppl g out and everyone thinks they dyin when they are just out for few hrs. mind you i dnt mess with the stuff anymore as isnt really my scene anymore. like anything tho, treat it with respect or else it wnt show you the same and fuk u up cuz of it. also the only thing that ive ever seen snap someone out of edge of g'in out or hell even g'in is the ice.... like i said not my scene anymore. but hey is what ive found from back in my wild party days heh.

wow rather..... wish my collection was that good, just got few small cuttings atm, tho i guess good things take time. heh will hav to get some pics of my collection to show cheers

yeh is Debco mixture (had to go through the bin to find it lol). will giv it a shot with bit of perlite and horse crap in it after straining bit of bark out (can get pretty damp here in colder months). thanks alot for all the replies exactly what i wanted to know. cheers edit: typeo
-
wow fast reply yep is full of bark, didnt think it would be good for it as bark tends to hold water. would it be a good idea to pull it out of this mix untill i get it readjusted or leave it in?? as most of them have yet to start rooting much. heh glade about horse manure being the pick of the crap as a mates got a few horses and doesnt always tryin to give me their crap for the garden hah. also on the side of bugs, is there anything i can add to the mixture or treat my beauties with to keep the evil bastards away??? thanks again. edit. heh yeh ive noticed... the only cure is to get more haha.
