    whats the story?

can anyone help me with my morning glories? i planted some I violacea probably about sept/oct last year. they came up quickly and seemed to be healthy at the time, but since then they have failed to thrive (growing only about 20cm in the last few months). the leaves are mottled with yellowish patches and look 'sick'. the potting mix is well drained, ive tried feeding with high nitogen food and they get plenty of light but nothing seems to have worked. any suggestions??

    foolish gnome-overacidic brew?

out of curiossity, are some acid salts absorbed better than others? i dont know anything about this but i would have thought that salts from hydrochloric acid would be better (than suphates citrates acetates etc.) because thats what weve got in out stomachs. does anyone know about this?

    whats the story?

thanks for the suggestions peeps! yeah, my first thought was nutrient deficeny of some sort, but i really do try to take care of this before it gets to be a problem (too much or little), but ill definately give the dynamic lifter a shot. the orchid mulch *is* defficent in pretty much everything (consists mainly of fine pine bark, rice husks and limestone chips), i just add some to the mix to keep it open for spieces that require extra drainage. also when the bark starts to decompose a bit and get spongy, roots grow right through it. actually i think you maybe onto something with the pot size, i feel this spieces would be much much happier in the ground, but im moving house soon so its going to have to put up with the pot for a little longer. thanks again for all your help.

    whats the story?

the area around the veins is dark green, its the other parts of the leaves that are yellowish, all leaves are affected. native orchids are my original plant vice and i know with these that yellowish leaves can indicate lack nitrogen which is why i tried fertilising with aquasol, but i didnt overdose them which i know is bad (i thought MGs were heavy feeders anyway?). also, the mix is free draining (i add sharp sand and orchid mulch to standard potting mix), so they shouldnt have wet feet. admittedly i do piss a fair bit on my plants (theyre begging for it i tells ya :D ) so maybe this doesnt agree with the MGs. as for the setting seed stage, i guess this is possible, but the plants are so small. i would have liked them to concentrate on building up some size before flowering, but they went ahead and did it anyway. babies having babies, i blame myself, but i tried to bring them up right...

    purple pills

for me the problem with mde is the short peak, not neccessarily the amount you have to take. the mdma peak is short enough, any less and i feel like i have to race against time to actually make taking it at all worth while in the first place (who wants to be left stranded half way through a set? id rather take nothing or get a decent stretch). for me increasing the dose or redosing simply isnt a practical way to increase the length, because rather than increasing the length, it changes the nature of the experience giving that intoxicated 'stoned' feeling that im also not really a fan of. plus stacking peaks makes me burnt out the day after. for these reasons, im not a fan of this material.

sounds like mde to me, ive heard different things about mde, but for a known gnome the experience was pretty much as described: similar feel to mdma, short peak (1.5-2hrs), redosing is a waste of time. consensus: waste of time, forget these pills.
  9. after reading this i checked the archives for anything else you wrote and found the CD store adventure. nice work on both counts!

i think blausaure (blue acid) is hydrogen cyanide, although the poison from name of the rose is arsenic.

    Best legal high???

no need to harvest your own or loiter around public toilets waving large denomination bills at minors : http://www.whattheheck.com/ebay/cleanpee.html yeti~ there is no test for salvinorin, the standard drug test screens for opiates, coke, amphetamines, pot and pcp. some drugs may cause a false positive test (eg poppy seeds for opiates, ketamine for pcp). because salvinorin is structurally unrelated to other illicit drugs and effective in such small doses it will not cause false positives for other substances.

so I had to stop eating chocolate all together (not as hard as you might think after a few gallons of chocolate flavored vomit and numerous hours of rolling around on the floor in a fits of pain induced delirium (I've inhaled tear gas and potentially lethal corrosive fumes that were far more bearable than chocolate). weirdo! alternatively carry a bottle of unadulterated child piss to work every day. you could even store it in the company fridge. be sure to label it 'apple juice'.

    Best legal high???

heya mally, drug tests are something that really gets up my nose (heheh), alcohol has to be responsible for more work related accidents/slackness than an other drug. to answer your question though, many of the plants dicussed here arent a great way to get high, theres a number of reasons for that: some are difficult to get (or require time for cultivation), others are difficult to consume (either volume of material required, manky taste or nauseating side effect), most have non-mainstream effects (ie, can blow your nut off or conversely be extremely subtle). finally many people consider the plants disscussed here deserve a certain degree of respect rather than simply being used as a quick way to get mashed. also it is worth pointing out that while many plants are legal to grow, preparing and consuming drugs from them is not. so as far as highs go i think many of illegal substances have more to offer than the plants here, because they are often cheaper, easier to aquire, prepare and take, and have a straight forward effects (not that i recommend illegal drug use since illegal drugs are illegal). Of the legal drugs i think that alcohol is the most versatile. of the natural hallucinogens, LSA, mescaline, and psilocybin are probably the most accesible. However, these drugs are illegal in many parts of the world, and where this is the case should not be consumed. where legal, gather as much info as possible on dosage effects and side effects (theres a good chance LSA and mesc will make you sick). DXM has been enjoyed recreationally, im not sure of the legal status but it is not routinely screened for (although there is mixed evidence that it may cause false positives for both PCP and opiates in high doses). LSD and ketamine are illegal in many places (and shouldnt be taken where this is the case) but not routinely screened for (k may cause false positives for PCP). im pretty sure there are other disscussions around this topic if you check the archives, hope you found some of this useful, and good luck.

    going rate for DMT?

250/g?? its more expensive than coke! where i live its pretty much unavailable no matter how much money you have so the only viable alternative (for chemistry unsophisticates like my self) is buy some seeds, grow some plants, refine some product, cut the product, sell 8 balls for $750, set up international dmt cartel, infiltrate the law, pay informers, murder the competition, retire age 35, launder money into crazy horse dollars, reinvest my billions in human growth hormnes, live forever...
  17. beware the diabolical commerce of plants, they will buy sell and trade you without a thought because they devalue animal life in a manner, and with a fierce predjudice which is difficult for us to understand. treat them with respect and hope that you get a kind master.

    drugs v meditation

warning: long rambling post. possibly intersting ok, drugs continue to be an important part of my life, and i am not suggesting that they are inferior to 'meditation' of whatever form. however, the fact remains that, for whatever reasons, i am using them less and less now than before. i have no problem with drug use whether it is for 'personal growth' or recreation, but i think the dichotomy presented here as 'drugs vs. meditation' is an artificial one. for me taking drugs is a form of meditation. one quality that distinguishes drugs from other medatative experiences is their distinctive profile: quick onset, intense peak, rapid (and occasionally unpleasant) drop off. this makes them useful for suddenly throwing the doors of perception wide open. however, the problem is that because of their relatively brief duration, many people find it hard to integrate the experience (which may have been one of their most intense and inherently meaningful) into their day to day lives (eg. most of us have met people who take a lot of x on weekends and are all hugs and smiles, but are grumpy self-absorbed bastards during the week). which is ultimately more benificial to personal growth; an experience of brief but vivid intensity which the individual nevertheless finds difficult to integrate into their life, or a more gentle series of experiences (of varying nature) that actually constitute a persons life. by this i mean that if you actively enjoy the work you do, enjoy your recreation and relationships to the hilt, then your life becomes a sort of meditation, and you are constantly growing from it. not to say that intense peak experiences arent desirable, for me personally they are, but they are just one experience of many that helps me enjoy and find subjective meaning in my life. the question for me is what am i doing between bouts of intense chemical revelation? if the answer is nothing which i find particularly fulfilling in itself, then perhaps the drug use however intense it is, is being wasted, and may actually be holding me back from fulfiling whatever it is i desire to be, or learning more about myself. this leads to another potential problem; drug use (even psychedelic drug use) can become a very self absorbed and not neccessarily positive activity, most of us have either experienced first hand or know someone for whom drug use became a 9 to 5 job from which little enjoyment or growth was derived. im much less likely to over use my clarinet (or other forms of 'meditation') to the point that i am no longer learning anything or enjoying it (although i suppose its possible). drug use and 'meditation' (for me meditation is not some high faluting mystical activity seperate from the other activities of my life, it is trying to maintain a meditative intensity and involvement in whatever im doing) are both symptoms of the way i want to live my life: enjoying myself as much is as humanly possible, and finding others who are interested in the same thing. just to address some other points you raised: music (sex, exercise, reading and any other personal subjective experience) is like religious experience or mystical revelation, people can spend lifetimes debating what 'level' of 'rapture' or whatever another person has attained, but i prefer not to. in the final instance, there is no absolute scale on which subjective experience can sensibly be measured. if i feel a sense of connection, wonderment and personally meaningful heightening of awareness, then that is enough for me. as for fluency in language, i take your point, but i wasnt talking about technical proficeincy, i was talking about reaching the stage where you no longer have to think in your native language and then translate, it just flows, and you begin to spontaneously construct sentences that you havent learnt without having to think about it. this neednt take a long time. basically i agree with what youre saying, drug experiences (especially faves like dmt and ketamine where you are totally removed from consensus reality) have an intensity and 'other-worldliness' that is not as easily and completely achieved by other methods. but in terms of overall personal development i dont think that drugs alone are sufficent (although my personal belief is that from time to time they are neccessary, even if its only to remind us). to truely further yourself i think that attempting to live life with as much intensity as possible, doing a job that you enjoy and extends you, having a partner/relationships that you love and challenge you, and having passion for whatever you do as recreation, are equally important, after all it is these things that constitute most peoples lives not a series of intense drug experiences.

    drugs v meditation

"Kinda like Wil.E.Coyote mid-air" or coitius interruptis (or is it premature ejaculation ). yep, the hardest thing is learning to disconnect your mind from worrying about what your doing and how, and not getting frustrated with yourself when you do. sometimes it helps to have a short break and come back to it later. in this respect ive found the clarinet a more understanding partner than most humans! like everything, it gets easier to maintain with practice. drugs v meditation

drugs vs meditation? why stop there? there are a multitude of ways to alter consciousness. one of the most profound experiences ive ever had is after ive been practicing a difficult piece on the clarinet, and suddenly, its like a revelation and my fingers just start playing the notes. if i stop and think about it i fuck up, its like the music is coming straight through me, if i stop and think about what im doing then i cant do it. you have to give yourself up completely to the music and the instrument, as soon as your ego interfers then the experience is lost. its like the instrument begins to teach you directly, and you just have to go with it. its the same experience as when youre living in a foreign country and you start becomming fluent in a language, you no longer have to think about what youre saying, conjugating verbs or whatever, you just start thinking and speaking in the language, immersed in it, suddenly the language takes over and starts propagating itself through your nervous system. its like the wall (ego?) between you and what youre trying to do suddenly collapses. for me the best psychedelic experiences are exactly the same, you lose yourself in the experience and let the chemical teacher come to the surface, its like the chemical interfaces with your nervous system and suddenly there is no sensible distinction between you and it, youre the embodiment of the personality hidden in the molecular structure of the "drug" as it binds to the receptors in your brain, a composite entity. same thing can happen when you lose yourself in dance, listennig to/playing music, reading a book that you are totally absorbed in (philosophys good, especially the totally mind bending stuff like wittgenstien thats hard to grasp consciously), singing/chanting, prayer/ritual (or any mental discipline that you lose yourself in: meditation, sensory deprivation, repetition of a word or action etc.), learning a new skill and becoming proficient enough in it to no longer have to worry about what youre doing, but can start changing it and making it your own, sex, pain (between consenting adults ), endurance activities, martial arts/yoga/tai chi, pushing yourself to do anything you wouldnt usually do, or losing yourself in pretty much anything creative. when the bottom of my mind drops out and i start falling through the gap, that for me is the ultimate human experience: total freedom, totally lost in the present. drugs are only one (very reliable) method of achieving this.

    datura/ayahuasca?

in my experience, eating is much stronger than smoking and also less predictable: proceed caution. effects may take hours to reach intensity, dont be fooled into redosing if the effects still arent that strong after 2 or 3 hours. early signs of intoxication are dry throat, heaviness in limbs and body, uncoordination and extremely dilated pupils (my pupils tend to dilate so much that vision, especially light sources become distorted even before the main effects of the drug kick in). if you are experimenting with dosage or with material of an unknown source, it is imperative to have a sitter with you even if you dont normally bother. the sitter should be experienced with drugs and not disposed to freak outs. the first time i took brug the guy who was sitting for me kicked me out of his/my house and wouldnt talk to me for a couple of years. although we laugh about it now, you dont want to be dealing with shit like that on the tail end of a tropane trip. i would also recommend taking it alone before combining it with anything, drug mixes can be unpredictable, and remember to give yourself enough time to come down with, residual effects are noticable three days after a strong experience (dilated pupils, uncoordination, 'foggy' mind), and subtley noticable for up to a week. you dont want to be writing essays etc during this period. anyways, id be interested to hear any experiences if your gnome does decide to go for it, good luck!

ive found that sticking the nozzle of the nitrous dispenser up your nose and inhaling the gas that way warms and humidifies the gas. ultra dry freezing gas is probably not that good for your sinuses though.
