Haha thanks
Good to know that you aren't risking much more than a destroyed letter by importing banned seeds/plants.
-
Just wondering if any of you know the risks involved with theoretically exporting forbidden seeds and/or plant material from Europe to Australia?
I don't really think they could do much, but wondering if there's some kind of international cooperation between customs for that.

Last few days to participate, winners will be picked on Sunday.
I asked the local name of the Green Malay and here is the answer:
QuoteGreen Malay is ketum hijau or ketum urat hijau in some local dialect. Red Thai is ketum urat merah. In Malaysia this 2 veriety is the most popular. FYI kratom may called in different local name but it's the same plant. For me bali green same like ketum putih in Malaysia. In Vietnam they call in in different name haha
Here's a pic of what might leave Malaysia soon :

Well life expectancy is an average, if most died before 18 you can't really say people used to live as long as we do.
There probably always was some people who lived to be 90+ years old, sure, but they've never been as numerous as nowadays.

Let's just put it like this, for a substance to have any effect you need at least a molecule of that substance, right?
Homeopathy dilutes compounds down to an active dose which not only you cannot detect with the most advanced analytical equipment, but often comes down to less than the weight of one atom (!)
Add to this the fact that Boiron has an almost complete worldwide monopoly on those little sugar balls they call pills, and you'll realize the ones doing lobbying are not the "anti homeopathy" but actually quite the contrary.
Up until recently homeopathy was reimbursed here in France, and the media pushed it hard, making beaucoup bucks to fucking Boiron labs. Fucking scam.
It's the only medicine which doesn't need to prove its effectiveness and safety before being put on the market.
And when you do a study to show the effectiveness of something but it doesn't succeed, you proved its ineffectiveness.
How can anyone in their right mind and with a basic understanding of science believe that diluting pus, feces, blood, lead or arsenic down to the weight of an atom will heal anything is beyond me...
Even without that, wanting to trust 16th century pseudo science is nuts, just compare the longevity back then with now.

I'll just leave this here:

I don't agree at all Sagi, in my experience caespitosa seedlings grow like this, one head and then pup from the areoles:
Plus this 3 headed one came from a batch of about 100 seedlings which all are regular williamsii.
Dichotomous seedlings are pretty common, here's what they grow up to look like:

Horsey I think those plants you said survived winter are Schlumbergera aka christmas cactus. Lovely pink flowers.

Went to water my plants which are and have been chilling in a neighbour's veranda for the winter.
Some of them really didn't like the environment change though, my Mimosa tenuiflora lost almost all its leaves.
As did most of my kratom plants (thankfully my best ones are in the grow tent doing good).
Some of them fare better though, so it allowed me to identify the hardiest genetics I have since all of them are seedlings.
All my Phalaris species have dried up but I'm confident new rhizomes will emerge this spring.
The cacti are doing great though, just sleeping peacefully.

Thank you so much for this awesome story Darklight, you guys really did an amazing job and I will forever be grateful as I'm sure you played a big part in popularising this miracle plant.
Especially when you consider that big "false kratom" debacle back in the early 2000's where my compatriots Bruno & friends at ebotashop flooded the market with false kratom (M. parvifolia I believe). This could have caused everyone to just brush off kratom as ineffective and killed the market in the egg...
I think it's extremely unfortunate that Australia decided to ban it, especially during an opiate epidemic. How can you consider an opioid which doesn't cause lethal respiratory depression as not having any medicinal potential is beyond me...
I really hope this will change in the future and you guys will be able to pick back up on the micropropagation op.
With your climate and proximity to Indonesia you could have those kratom forests I dream of over there in Oz hahaha.
Could you share a bit about what the selection process was for the Rifat clone? Was it simply the most vigorous sprout of the batch of seeds?
If you do a talk about this at EGA I might just have to fly my ass over there haha

Hey everyone,
I was blessed with a large amount of very fresh Mitragyna speciosa var. "Green Malay" seeds coming straight from a Kratom farmer in Malaysia who harvested them.
Someone I know is in direct contact with the farmer who sent him the seeds and he was kind enough to give me what I estimate to be at least a thousand of them.
This is a rare opportunity and I'm very grateful.
I haven't sown them yet but my friend already has many sprouts in less than a week. These are pic's from my last year's grow, Rifat seeds. Seed to propagation:
This plant plays an important part in my life so it's important for me to share it. And what better place than SAB to share those, hey?
Especially considering what I heard about Shaman Australis being the pioneers who grew out the seeds Claude Rifat brought back from Thailand, which gave birth to the famous Rifat clone.
Any details on this? I'd love to hear more of that story @Torsten
The farmer said he might be able to send more seeds of other cultivars soon as well. So I might do more of these giveaways in the near future.
One is a strain they call "Urat Merah" in the Kuala Lumpur area, which the farmer said he thinks is the strain we call Red Vein Thai. Apparently we will receive those around mid-February.
Another one would be seeds of horned kratom (sometimes called Maeng Da), he said a friend of his is traveling to Vietnam this spring and might be able to bring some seeds back for us.
And finally, and I'm very interested in this one, he talked about a strain of kratom they call "Ketum Daun Jambu" which roughly translates to "Guava Kratom" of which he says the leaves are smaller than average but the potency is at least double that of other strains.
Anyways, enough rambling, put a number between 1 - 100 down and I'll randomly pick 10 winners in a week or two. Please check if your number has already been picked, if two people pick the same number the first one will be the winner.
The winners will get a pack of approximately 30-50 seeds of Green Malay, and I'll throw in some Rifat seeds as well which are starting to get a bit old (~10 months) but you might get lucky and have a few sprouts still.
If by chance the "Urat Merah" a.k.a Red Thai seeds show up by the time the winners are picked I will include a pack of those as well.

The only issue with localbitcoin is you're basically gonna pay quite a big premium compared to the current bitcoin price, especially if you don't want to have to provide an ID.
All the exchanges that you can buy BTC on with fiat will require ID verification one way or another. I found Coinbase's process to be the easiest tbh. You should be able to use a smartphone camera instead of the webcam, they send you a link via SMS, you click that link and from there you can upload pictures of your ID, recto & verso.
I'm not looking to sell any btc right now or I would have sold you some Horsey.
I would definitely agree with Northerner that right now the gains to be made are in altcoins, not bitcoin.
Although I just saw bitfinex has printed another 100 millions tether dollars, so it could mean another btc bullrun is brewing...
EDIT: you could also try to find a bitcoin ATM near you to buy from, there seems to be quite a few over there in the UK: https://coinatmradar.com/country/225/bitcoin-atm-united-kingdom/

How many months has it been? I also have some rooted leaves that have been potted for over 3 months now that still haven't sprouted but from what I've heard 3 to 5 months is the timeframe we're looking at.
Albas seems to sprout faster, all 6 of my pieces of leaves planted at the same time as the viridis have now put out plantlets.

That's a goddamn good question because I topped some of mine and they seem to be dying. Not sure if it's because of them being brought inside or because of the topping. I'm still assuming they can sprout "branches" from the base of the leaves.

I've never taken cuttings from mines so far but I believe you could just snip the top and root it in a glass of water. Best way would probably be an aeroponic cloner imo.

You can plant those directly, they sprout easily.
P. brachy doesn't spread through rhizomes, it will only make one stalk per seed, but it's much thicker than P. aquatica or arundinacea. It can be propagated by cuttings though.

Hahaha so true Notherner! But for us the way I see it it's the pullback we've all been waiting for, time to heat those credit cards up.

Thanks a lot for the answers guys, scop hybrid is probably right. Although I didn't think about the cordobensis route, could be too like Halcyon said.
Either way I ordered the plant I think it looks nice. Will post some pics on arrival.
