etherealdrifter Posted March 31, 2013 hi, i've got a couple of olive trees -approx 8yrs old. One's a U.C 13 A.6 and the other a Sevillano. I harvested my 'Sevillano -Queen of Spain' olives the other day. whitewind Posted April 1, 2013 (edited) I just spent an exhausting few hours potting up every small plant into 140mm pots (finally!) just in time for Autumn growth, the weather still being good. I have almost no seedlings or cuttings left, they are all big enough to require much less care - now time for Autumn sowing! The little pumpkin had fun with my labels yesterday, switched a few over and added a few "dead" labels to living plants (A Vanilla suddenly became a mate!) and wrote a few squiggles herself, lucky I caught her at the cacti as some of those I could get confused with - she seems to ignore the spines, somehow. It's a worry. And I was excited to discover that all my gingers were labelled quite well, only a couple of "unknowns" in there, and these are doubles of things I already have, so dead chuffed there. She'll double branch (probably) right there and maybe tip back again after the next node until you're done. Wait until she's hardened off a bit before tipping to avoid die-back; a change in light levels will make the nodes reduce in length. Luckily I now get the occasional day off to do some research and potting on! There's no turning your back on wild children unless they are safely pre-occupied in a closed in area. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I'd prefer it stout and bushy whilst I'm renting as opposed to running along the balcony and not being able to move her. I was hoping to hear it would shoot more than just the top two nodes. I'm sure if I wrap her down low and have a top fest of each shoot once a node appears ill be fine tho. Grabbed a whole heap of timber from work and made some make shift edging. The backyard is still a big work in progress but at least now I can see it coming together. Trying to train this girl along the fence. When I mist her I swear the hugs me Recycled the old hardwood timber fence and made some shelves, tidyed up the side of my house that gets nice morning sun. Noticed my loph has flowered again? second time since Christmas Also noticed the very first pach I bought has just sprouted 3 pups Built a make shift lighting structure, have t5s going at the moment with some loph seeds thank to Trichoshaman! You can re veg them but it takes a while and you'll generally speaking loose her. Plenty of water and ferts and your laughing Edit: today I gifted 20+ plants onto family members and friends. They were so enthusiastic and excited about my garden it was hard not to pass some babes on. In the batch was loph graphs, datura plants, lions tail plants, trich crosses, brug seedlings and some bundleweed seedlings. Pruned the lower branches off the cassava to let in some light & so the kids can play underneath, Dunno what i'm going to do with all the cuttings? Anyone local wanting some cassava cuts?? Grafted the few surviving Piloso seedlings that the dreaded gastropods hadn't quite finished off & potted up some more Pere's cuts. Collected a heap of yam bulbils from the yam patch. I'm at a loss to know what i'm going to do with all the clove basil If you like it's culinary qualities you can mortar it into a paste with olive oil and place into a jar. Cover with 1" olive oil and place in the freezer and you'll be able to make salads and pesto in a wiz. Don't add anything besides well washed and dries basil and oil or it may spoil. I grew clove basil last year and found its pesto very good with baked pumpkin and roasted capsicum pasta.
