Serious Slug problem - Solution needed!
TheMooseZeus posted a topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Hello! I have a really terrible slug problem, I go outside every night and execute 15 or so slugs on my plants in under 5 minutes. Can anyone recommend me a good and safe slug repellant or recipe and even plants i could use to deter them? - Me and my plants thank you -
Keeping Quail Courtunix japonica
TheMooseZeus replied to Humboldt's topic in Sustainable Technologies & Ethical Living
Ay! Glad there's a threat for this! Just set up a homemade incubator and hatched 3/12 eggs which is a terrible hatch rate! I have a lot to work on for my next hatch. Sadly one chick died the other night so im left with two but im picking up 4 chicks on Tuesday. I'll post some pics of the little guys. Glad there's a quail culture on the site -
After watching Julian Palmer's amazing new video on youtube and receiving his emails i have become very interested in phyllodium pulchellum or desmodium gangeticum. They sound like incredible plant medicines I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who sells seeds or plants of this medicine, If so please PM me Julian Palmer: Entheographical Explorations : Global Research on the most viable 5-MeO-DMT containing plants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD1PwrdjhBE

Hey all! Has anyone had any luck planting seeds in autumn/ winter with the intention to have them pop up in spring? I assume rot would be a big issue and defining factor with what ends up germinating... Just curious... Cheers

Hey all! I on the 25th i inoculated some agar dishes with a summer fruiting mushroom. After 8 days i have seen no growth (mycelial or other) on the plates. The spore prints were dated 2019 and i followed pastywires tek. They are being incubated at ~24oc Any knowledge and wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much for the reply! I've used two strains so far which have reportedly quite short germination times - The remaining plates i have going have shown no contamination (The rest had contamination which i assume is a sign that it isn't a problem with the agar i'm using). I definitely have spores on the plates maybe even a few too many. Some have quite obvious smear marks. As for hydrating i've heard that can help but cant help but think that it could introduce contamination. I have also heard that because the spores are so tiny such a small volume of water is needed to hydrate the spores. An amount that could be easily achieved in the agar plate. Although i definitely want to look into spore syringes! Cheers!

Native seeds for education/ youth development.
TheMooseZeus posted a topic in Australian Native Plants
Hey all! I've gotten involved with a youth development program in my area. The program is centred around bring young people outside to collaborate on a community garden. Its going great and really serving its purpose. With drought, increasing temperatures and water restrictions (not to mention habitat loss etc) i think its far more beneficial to be planting natives. If anyone has ANY native seeds lying around i'd love to take them off your hands and could shout a little $$$ your way. Thanks so much everyone, your efforts would definitely be going to a good cause. Take it easy- 6 replies

Native seeds for education/ youth development.
TheMooseZeus replied to TheMooseZeus's topic in Australian Native Plants
I imagine a lot of these will be kept in large pots for a while if local to the area it wouldn't be a problem getting in touch with the local council and getting them out into the wild.- 6 replies

Hey all! Its been 24 hours since i added colonised grain spawn to the pasteurised substrate. It seems like the mycelium is having a hard time migrating to the straw (hay?) Any idea what's going on? Edit: dark spots are seeds from the grain (not sure what grain was used possibly bird seed)
-
Hey! Success! First flush: Second flush: Cheers for your help everyone, next step is to transfer the used substrate to new straw and keep it alive and kicking!

Soaking young willow branches in water has worked for me. Contains salicylic acid and such. Same stuff asprin is made of... i think

Hey all! Unfortunately my first shot at cloning my oyster spawn has failed It seems something must have gotten in going from jar to jar. The bag of straw substrate is going strong and my jars of King stropharia look healthy and vigorous! For some reason the grain never took off like the KS is Any tips would be greatly appreciated Cheers guys!
