    NZ Salvia giveaway

I wonder how the fresh leaf thing works? Do you chew it a bit and then hold it in your mouth for a given period of time to let the juices work their magic and then spit it out or perhaps its eaten?

    don't cha hate it when..

Don't cha hate it when the beautiful woman that you have moved from across the world to be with, really is everything you could ever want in a woman ie best friend, lover, confidant, soul mate and so much more. The one that you have been waiting for all you life. And she say,s I am all this to her too. You just know you would rather die than see harm to one hair on her head, you would give anything to protect her from harm, even your life. She even supports and encourages you in your passion for ethno plants!! When you realize this is it and you know the loss would be more than you could possibly bear if you lost her to another man. When other men hit on her in your presence but are so clever with it that it would be you that would look stupid if you challenged him. When they assume her warm friendly manner is flirting so carry on or perhaps don,t care anyway. When you want to tell her to not to be so smiley and friendly with him but don't because you know its being possessive, it would be controlling and that's just not you. When you know she is a man magnet not just by the way she looks but also her vitality and creativity shine out of her. She would look good in a potato sack. When you know you can't fool yourself it doesn't matter. When you know what you feel is real because your in your middle years and nobody's fool and sometimes much older than the men coming on to her even though she is only 3 years younger than you. When you know they only want to her for sex because after all you are a man and you know in an instant when you see a scumbag c#nt on the make, and its an insult and direct challenge to you yet you feel so helpless to do anything because your too awkward to do the right thing when you just want to take him out of the gene pool. Don't cha hate it when she helps you shovel horse shit into a sack and then helps you drag it across the paddock to the car so you can make compost for your plants, you look at her covered in shit and sweat yet love her all the more, when she holds your hand when you go bush walking together, when you sit down for a pick nick in some secluded special place, when she takes out a cheese sandwich that she made especially for you, nothing in the world could taste so nice. When at night she lays asleep in your arms with her soft hair tumbled over your face and chest. As you lay awake in the small hours of the night you remember the plans you have both talked about, to buy some land far out in the sticks, make a home, plant a garden, grow our little paradise on earth, then you realize the scent of her hair reminds you of the freshly mown hay in a now distant sunny meadow that you played in as a small child all those years ago, her skin is soft, smooth as marble, the warmth of her body comforts you as You know you really would want nothing more than that moment to last for ever. Be careful for what you wish for coz it might just break your heart... Don't cha hate it when that happens...

Have you ever met a psychopath (corporate or otherwise)

Yes I have met true psychopaths in my life, they tend to fall into one or two types, the violent unpredictable b*&%$@#d or the the corporate sly conniving little c#nt, the latter being by far the worst type and greatly deserving of a good kicking.

    Wanted, Calea z seedling/plant

Yes it does look like "lambs ear" to me as well, the others as Nailthesnail mentioned look just like Silene Capensis, I have a couple of seedlings on the go at the moment. I grew some Silene Capensis a year or so ago and as they grow larger, so do the leaves grow longer along with the flower stems. These little seedlings on the right of the bottom of the 3rd photo look like Calea z? Maybe... Lol !!

    Wanted, Calea z seedling/plant

I was going to buy some Calea seed on ebay from Australia, so rang NZ customs to check, the guy I spoke to seemed to give me the impression that its still ok over here but was annoyingly vague and when I asked him to send me an email just to clarify, it never got sent. Its strange that no one is selling it over here, none that I know of anyway..

New to Forum and New Zealand

Hello All, I just joined this forum in this last week or so. Also I arrived in New Zealand 7 months ago from England to join my Kiwi girlfriend and hope to stay here permanently, never been to New Zealand before and have been surprised and refreshed by the differences in culture along with the strange familiaritity. It has been a bit of a culture shock in Auckland as there is a dark side to the place but I've been made welcome most of the time. The climate has of course got my horticultural senses buzzing with excitement. We are in Auckland and I have been fascinated to see plants that wouldnt last 5 minutes in the UK growing outside in gardens, parks and of course the bushland, the incongruous sight of citrus trees laden with fruit growing alongside huge mature English oaks makes me smile. Anyway, growing all sorts of interesting plants has been a big part of my life since I was a child so I'm looking to get back into it right away. It has been a big disappointment with sourcing seed and plants over here due to unavalability and maybe lack of communication between growers so and am really interested in getting to know people here to share experiences, enthusiasim and trade surplass seed and plants. It would also be great to hook up with growers over here in NZ too.

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

Hi All, I have just joined this forum this week and want to share my experiences with everyone here as am building my collection back up again since I arrived in New Zealand from the UK, and as you can all see from my first post here, I already have some plants to talk about. Sadly I had to leave them behind as you are not allowed to bring plants over here. I have tried to contact the "community moderater" with no success as when I try to look up the members list I get this! Any one know how I can get past this shit? " Sorry, you don't have permission for that!

What did you do in your sacred garden today?

Today it rained like mad overnight and the gales battered my swan plants so restaked them and found out my windcheater is not exactly waterproof then had a peek at my Calea z seeds that I had sown 24 hours ago, must stop looking lols. Checked my new Salvia d plants that arrived yesterday. They look really tatty and worse for wear but should perk up when I repot them later. Checked the Silene undulata seedlings on the windowsill, are they slow or what!
