bℓσωηG Posted July 19, 2010 Hi , I have upgraded from my crappy phone camera and some pics I have been posting have been raising a few queries to what strains of Trichocereus they actually are . To be honest im not quite sure exactly, the original clones came from New Zealands south island some years ago, imported by a semi famous guitar player from brazil named Fabricio Sanchez and then passed on to my cousin Peaches who then gave to me one small pup from each of the two differing clones both of which were my first Trichocereii (im not sure what importation protocol was employed at this time)..... they were both the same size when recieved as pups but as i used one for grafting stock ( i didnt have any other material) one is 0ne metre high with four pups and the other is much smaller but has now pupped a nicely skinned/spined pup which some say resembles the sausage/ peruvian.... I do regret having used it as graft stock now because i really like the look of it and it will be some time before it catches up with its sibling... Hope this answers some of the questions for yall ... to me theyre just ''kiwi pedro'' until i can have an analysis dun lol.
PD. Posted July 19, 2010 Looks so much like the sausage plant it aint funny although i have heard "snags" dont like pupping at tha base. All three of my plants of tha snags variety have only been in a year or 2 so cant say for sure as to basal pups but jebus yours looks like it needs a bbq. Strangebrew is tha lad to ask imo, come to think of it i havent seen him about of late.
Micromegas Posted July 19, 2010 I have numerous sausages. more than half have pupped from the base but this is characteristic of my conditions as a whole. that thing really looks like the sausage plant blowng and yet i would not say for certain. if it terminates next growing season, then it is for sure. strangebrew Posted July 19, 2010 Close but it's too ordinary. Snags would've thrown a few ribs changes by now at least. I have numerous sausages. more than half have pupped from the base but this is characteristic of my conditions as a whole. What conditions do you think encourage basal pupping? Still never seen it here in the ground or in a pot.

solomon Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) Hey blowng, I reckon you were right when you said they looked the same as the Trichocereus from Blenheim that is discussed in the NZ Trichos thread. Borrowing my girls SLR so i will snap some comparison pics. Edit: Not so sure it is the same plant after looking at a couple of the clones I was talking about: Edited February 25, 2012 by centipede
