Man o man, If one were able to without dying in a bed of spiney horror. Some major seed collection needs to happen from those huge cacti. They were pachycereus yes? I am sure I can see a pectin-aboriginum or however it's spelt.

Thats the old Dawson cactus garden in Bendigo, the first one in my pics are from Fields farm Mr. dundee. Both Fields and Dawson were friends and yes, even waaaay back when they were collecting they argued over which plant was the "real" pachanoi according to Rob out at Fields farm lmao. Both farms imo are the best cactus collections here in Au, the history is amazing.

Yeah it was a real privilege to walk through the garden, huge spiders hanging off some of them too, never seen a garden like it ever, would be cool to see the Fields garden you talk of as well

PD you said a while back that one of these may be open to the public soon? If that's the case I'd love to have a look, will be travelling through Bendigo for the first time ever in about two weeks for our honeymoon trip, would love check it out on the way through. If it's open then could someone PM me some details please. If it's still a private collection then don't worry about it. cheers

Not sure if or when John (bendigo) is considering opening to the public. Every time i have been ive just gone and knocked on the door and had a yarn and wander around. Fields is open to the public although you have to call in advance and organise a time to meet Robert there and he will give you the guided tour, is well worth it!

Have had the priviledge of visiting Fields cactus garden. Here's some pics included*. Have to say Mr Fields is a bloody good bloke, pioneer, and fucking champion of cactus in this country. Talking with him he told me that there are some out there in the community that raid his garden with no respect, especially for the son of the original importer of these sacred cacti into this country. Without this man, his father and his family we simply would not have some of the most desired cactus in the world. Pay respect. Do not steal from this good man. You'd be suprised how generous politeness and respectfullness makes.
