DuG Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) I saw this big cactus on a walk around my place. I might ask for a cutting off the beast, maybe even offer them a carton for one of the big trunks. The biggest trunk stands almost 3m tall, there are 6 trunks. There is another identical one next to it that stands almost as high with 4 trunks Edited March 21, 2006 by DuG

Rev Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) no idea what id call that thing but i want one too! this is what i call stetsonia coryne excuse late night indoor shot.... the cactus is 40 to 50 cm tall to give perspective on spine length bloody carnivore. poor scrap of rodent impaled on spines the blessed things probably fishin for larger prey ;) Edited March 21, 2006 by Rev
teonanacatl Posted March 21, 2006 i always find things imapled on spines, maybe they are an adaptation for increased nutriends, i mean the things impaled, dies and releases nutrients to the cactus.
faslimy Posted March 22, 2006 i've found moths, butterflies, jumping spiders and most hilariously, a fly impaled on some of my cacti. Flies seem pretty good at avoiding certain death with that one exception. that cactus is a fat beauty btw!
zee_werp Posted March 22, 2006 What the hell mexicali, thats definitley not a S. coryne. Perhaps a joke that I didn't get, haha, especially since you're normally so anal about names of things yet you capitalised the species name. It looks like T. macrogonus to me.
