looking for fluorescent bulbs to fit a 24W T-5 ballast. problem is its american and the ones in aus are to short and to long, i bought the ballasts off ebay for real cheap, now i know why theywere so cheap, to bad the seller didnt mention it. the tubes would havta be about 56cm long. if anyone knows a place i could order from or somwhere that has them or themselves have some to sell let me know.

Just a question, if they are american ballast's wouldnt they be running off a 110volts primary? (as opposed too our 240volt system) Because if it is and you finnally find the globes you may blow them pretty fast :(

No im pretty sure you cant (in my experience that is) unless it has a built in step down transformer (converts 240 to 110) then it would be possible. But i think in the end it would of been cheaper to just get normal australian lights $15-$20 or so. But then again if you did manage to make them usefull then id suggest you ask around for the globes at "koala" lighting wholesalers. They have the largest selection of lights i have come accross.

Hope i have been a bit of help for you

Doesn't US electricity operate at 60hz, rather than 50hz, aswell?

Surely that would make it hard to just 'adapt' the power input?

It sure does, although the relationship with voltage and frequency is linear so it does marginally even out but still not enough.... bloody yanks :P

Hey teonanacatl you could always put them back up on e-bay at worst
