Graft growth

Recommended Posts

Here are some pics of my first grafting atempts.

The first pic was taken on the 6/1/06 and the second was taken on the 4/2/06. Thats 29 days of growth.

I am really happy with the growth rate an think i can see the start of some flower heads on another one i did at the same time.post-626-1139058204_thumb.jpgpost-626-1139058295_thumb.jpg

This is the one i think is about to flower.post-626-1139058502_thumb.jpg

The little dot on just to the right hand side of the centre and the little dot just below centre look different to newly emerging pups. I know the pics a bit blurry but is it possible for them to flower from these positions?

Or will the flowers come out from the centre only?

apparently if the flowers come from anywhere BUT the centre then its not a true loph

but rather an intergeneric hybrid with something like mammilaria or the like

Couldn't this also be that due to it being grafted it is growing at a much quicker rate and the aeroles get pushed out at a faster?

Yes, I believe you're correct dodie. You can see this phenomenon in some of the lophs in the pereskiopsis competition over at the nook.
