apothecary Posted December 19, 2005 Wolfmother - Wolfmother Gorillaz - Demon Days Cog - The New Normal Queens of the Stoneage - Lullabies to Paralyze System of a Down - Mesmerise System of a Down - Hypnotise Damian Marley - Welcome to Jamrock Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth Foo Fighters - In Your Honour and I'm withholding a number 10 for an honourable mention of Willy Mason's new album and the powerful and important hippy song "Oxygen" contained therein. Another one that was released just before the US elections that I think is worth an honourable mention is of course A Perfect Circles eMOTIVe, but that was the end of 2004. Good to see plenty of Aussie bands rockin the scene just as hard as their international counterparts, Cog, Shihad, The Butterfly Effect (oh my that was an amazing show). Look for more new shit by Butterfly Effect and Frenzal Rhomb soon. Support the aussie bands by going to the gigs! Butterfly Effect are touring right now, Frenzal should be soon too. Apart from that, I plan on going to the Blues and Roots Festival up at Byron Bay over the easter weekend, Damian Marley will be there. 2005 was a damn fine music vintage year. EDIT: mmmm live shows. Wolfmother, Queens of the Stoneage, Foo Fighters, The Butterfly Effect, Shihad (3 times), Cog (3 or 4 times heehhe), Living End, everyone else who was at Splendour like Caribou (thanks for getting me tix T :D ), and so on. Oh man, it's been a good year the more I think about it.
narayan Posted December 19, 2005 Nice choices apoth, and yes hasn't it been an awesome year for aussie music. Sounds like you went to some awesome gigs, I wish more bands would tour here in adelaide, *sighs* My fav live gig of the year would have to be Grinspoon and some other random local band who didn't even have a name that absolutley rocked out at my fav pub the grace emily one night. Evil Genius Posted December 19, 2005 I don´t think that i´ll get 10 Top Albums on my list. I loved the PUSH THE BUTTOM LP. Galvanize ist the Best Breakbeat i ´ve ever heard! I also loved the german Bushido Album Staatsfeind No. 1. Very good produced from Beatlefield, the new Kanye West LP was ok, Jack Jonson made such a Great Album this year! Isn´t he from Oztralia? The Green Day Album was very impressive. The new Culcha Candela LP and the "Patrice - Roots LP" are cool too. I needed time until i liked the new System of A Down LP but now i love it.
