Sweet as Mr b.caapi B)B) What are you gonna pollinate it with?

What's the deal with the freo community garden centre strain, has it got different growth habit or potency or is just the common strain around Perth?

Either way I'd really like a cutting for propogation, as all of my pachs are sourced from over east. Is this community garden still in existance in Freo, or alternatively would anyone be willing to offer one up for sale?? (don't have much to trade I'm afraid)

My most common strain is this one

simply cos it made up the largest fraction of the starting stocks AND it is quite fast growing

probbaly in part because it never stops to flower...

im just about to post some pics of my trich action ATM

incl my pedro flowers ( from goms garden - east coaster strain)

I have loads of buds on my pachs and scops

the rest are thge ornamental types

i can supply pollen from either and by the looks of it the timeing will be good

can you take some better pics of the FCG strain with buds if possible

Thsi strain is definitely different to what one might call a backeberg pachanoi

it flowers less, grows faster and is slightley more spiney

This isnt apparent all the time. sometimes when young they look sthe same but in stages of growth they are considerably more spiney - even to the point i thought it was a short spine peruvianus not pachanoi

the diameter can be susbtantial - up to 10cm at least

aaaages

they sit about doing SFA building up the energy for the push

once it starts in earnest it proceeds very quickly and is all over in one night

its always so warm n fuzzy a moment :P

my buds look at the similar phase to yours, both my gom strain pachanoi, and my omar ( these 2 may be synonymous in fact)

the scop is a bit further behind

keep us updated and ill tell you how where i am

pach pollen keeps well on cotton tips over a few months but the flowers seem not as readily accepting of old pollen - even tho its fine for use wil the promiscuous echinopsis hybrids the pachanoi mother is less likley to take pollen much over a week or 2 old IME

it may be just me tho

hres wher i am as of yesterday

omar

normal_omaroctober.jpg

you can see the echinopsis to the bottom left that successfully accepts pach pollen and you can imagine how strange the hybrids will look!

Gomaos clone

normal_gomoctober.jpg

see the buds all over the tips and stem!

the pachs in the back are the pachs that FF rejects..wonky lookin things destined for the grafting knife, the specimen ones i sell are much better in appearance...

ive been messing with grafted epiphyllums lately - updates over summer
