Guest electro Posted November 30, 2003 a friend of a friend was curious about the growth paramaters for these lil things. he basicly wanted to know what conditions are favourable for indoor growth ie light strength (will a 12 vold bulb do or should fluros or something stronger be in order - ie does it grow in dark places, in semi light, out in the open etc) air circulation - constant ? or several 1/2 hr periods with the us humidifyer runing to prevent water loss light timing - half day, 4 * 1/2 hr lightings humidity level (does it grow in very high humidity levels 90% + or will it need only a little us humidification) temperature (high preferred to low preferred temps for cycling- using water heater to generate low amounts of steam, air current & heat .. will switch off for 12 hrs daily .. temp will range from 20 to 28c or lower if need be) etc also to initiate spores use either: sterilised malt water or agar transfer to: wood chips saw dust kittylitter recycled cardboard or wbs (if this is possible, can this be fruited from, or MUST it be transferred to cardboard/wood) do they follow similar patterns to cubes ? eg white mycellium growth, when colonised hit with several hours of indirect light per day, several days later will pin, approx 1 week later will be fruiting. also do they survive peroxide in their agar and subsequent substrates >? thanks very much [ 30. spiders Posted November 30, 2003 You'll need a fridge at around 9-12C constantly - youll need agar to get a good isolate that actually pins on agar. You'll need some eucalypta, hardwood mulch and you'll need lots of air exchange - my advice is to use pinebark spawn covered with a tiny bit of brf, use this to innoculate a bag of the above woods, and then place this in a tray with a removable cling-wrap cover. Mist often and leave it outside at night with the wrap off = fruiting may take a month.

spiders Posted December 1, 2003 outdoors is much better- less variability and sure fruiting.
mescalito Posted December 1, 2003 A gnome I know successfully inocculated middie glasses with foil on top (PF tek for dummies), but alas, never got them to fruit. Outdoors sounds like the go!
