Veronica Posted May 29, 2002 Is Psilocin and Psilocybin found in the stalk as well or is it just in the tops of the shrooms? [This message has been edited by Veronica (edited 29 May 2002).]
shroomy Posted May 29, 2002 Does that include the mycelium also.
Adrian Posted May 29, 2002 (Veronica, I'll have to get you to edit the first line of your initial post please) Every part except the spores. Try munching a hand full of soil from near a psilocybe next time, try and remove the wormies first though Apparently cultivating mycelium is a much more efficient way of producing psilocin & psilocybin (of course, in the near future when such things are legal to do here). Veronica Posted May 29, 2002 So you should eat the hole lot not just the tops.Ok thanks [This message has been edited by Veronica (edited 29 May 2002).]
coin Posted May 29, 2002 i dunno about the whole mass mycelial cultivation for production of psilocin...if it's liquid innoculum (a la Gottlieb?) it's hard to spot contaminants.. i don't think the psilocin content really compares to say pre-sporulating specimens from the second flush. Guest auto302823 Posted May 30, 2002 i can vouch for the efficiency of mycelial production rather than the fruiting of mature carpophores which requires an order of magnitude more procedure and dedication if a mushroom flavoured cranberry-shake is your thing of course however there is also the issue of repeatability and sustainability by not going full cycle [Feel free to edit whatever is inappropiate here, auto]

spiders Posted June 3, 2002 Alkaloid content is variable between fruits but the same in the cap or stem of the fruit. Mycelia reaches its peak of alkaloid production just before and during the development of primordia.
