aztec/mayan mushrooms?

Hey everyone,

Im interested in mushrooms that where used in the aztec and mayan cultures ,if anyone has any information on them please...

Im not to sure on the main ones but i think one was called teonanctl, and others similar..

cannot recall the other names....

Well... it really depends...

According to the literature there are a number of mushrooms that could have been used??

Psilocybe mexicana

Psilocybe aztecorum

Psilocybe hoogshandii (sp??)

Panaeolus sp (something or other)

By the way it is probably not a good idea to announce to the public that you want to collect Psilocybin mushrooms.. cos that is probably illegal where you are..i guess it depends what your intent is.

Sorry im serious i did not know they where illegal, i did not mean to offend you in anyway ,mesq.

I have seem them been sold on australian sites so i thought you were allowed.

Mmm thats ok....

The only thing is that you didn't ask about spore prints you asked about mushrooms... which is a different matter entirely.. In sure spore prints for microscopy purposes are legal...

Does anyone have any idea to as which mushrooms grow in the mountainous Huautla in Jimenez, Oaxaca ,Mexico.

I know its to wrong place to be asking but i thought i would conclude the message...

The more common species in mexico are Psilocybe caerulescens (similar to weilli), Psilocybe aztecorum (similar to arcana) Psilocybe zapotecorum (similar to aucklandii) and Psilocybe mexicanna.
