Tryptameanie Posted May 3, 2003 Ergotamine, a commonly prescribed migraine drug, comes from the ergot fungus. Wouldn't recommend you go munching on ergot though, you might lose some extremities. Anyway it used to be thought that it worked by constricting blood vessels in the brain, but now I believe it's thought to be more complex. Interestingly, other seretonergic drugs may also be effective- the following is from the lycaeum, go there for further discussion. "Both LSD and Psilocybin are much more effective than either Ergotamine and Methysergide. A single 25mcg dose of LSD will completely prevent cluster headache episodes for up to 12 months. Likewise Psilocybin, although I'm not sure of the exact dose, it is 1/4 of the typical recreational dose." [ 03. Herbmajik Posted May 14, 2003 You could try using some good old Lavender and Rosemary as a mixture in an Infusion . Both the essential oils of these two are good for migraines . Also Sandalwood tincture or tea would work as it calms the mind and cools the head . [ 14. May 2003, 02:09: Message edited by: Herbmajik ]
