Euphorbia obesa pollination/cross pollination.

Recommended Posts

so my obesa is gonna flower very soon. Wondering if anyone knows what she can cross pollinate with or if she is self fertile?

I think your's is a female plant, you'd need a male plant as well. Meloformis is compatible, not sure about others though.

I just had a Symetrica and Obesa cross but I got rid of the seeds. That would just mess up the already relatively subtle differences. I'm sure I just saw an Obesa cross Meloformis on eBay the other day. The vendor saying it was Obesa x ????

I know absolutely noting on the topic, other than having some fairly mature specimens that seem to set seeds & scatter them willy-nilly.

the first seedling i noticed was in a loph pot which was immediately adjacent to the 2 headed mama

a few years later i spotted a new seedling growing in a pot containing an ariocarpus fissuratus, which was a good 3 meters from the E obesa mama.

mama

I'd love those seeds myself Nut,,, next time maybe ;)

Hey Zelly,, nice double header mate. Apparently obesa growers rig up something over the fruits to catch the seeds when the fruit splits. Collecting too early and they're not as viable from the link I posted.

Myco?? Is that you dude?? Haha of course it is ;p great to see you posting again mate. Hope all is well :)

Some type of dome over the top and a base it sits on that collects the seeds. Stops them from scattering all over the place.

I heard glue is good as well like old school clag in a pot

Just spread over the seed pods when they are near ripe.

I love obsesas I have several myself.
