Finding Books online

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there are any sites or anything that can help you search for books online in .pdf format?

I can remember someone earlier mentioned using Kazaa or other file sharing programs...how well do they work?

I sometimes use a program called Bearshare which is similar to Kazaa. However, the only drug related books I've found are Recreational Drugs by Prof. Buzz and some marijuana grow guides.

There is also a program called DC++ which people use to share files. It's very similar to mIRC in that people have chat rooms (hubs) that specialise in one or two types of files. There are quite a few dedicated to books. The downside to this method is that a lot of the hubs require that you share a minimum amount of data on the same subject (eg you need 2GB of scanned books in order to join the hub). But there are a few that are newbie friendly and allow you to join with nothing to share.

Make sure your your virus definitions are up to date before using P2P software.

What's the best Virus protection?

I've got a registered copy of McCAfee, and it slows the whole shebang up so much I get the shits with it and remove it again :(

I suppose my 600 Mhz is like a C64 nowadays!

Virus protection is a good idea but basically look carefully at any file you download off kazaa in particular and never run *.exe files you download from there. If its books you are downloading it really should only be .txt .doc or .pdf
