What sort of Trichocereus is this?

Question

Help me id this.

My father got it for me as soon as he found out my interest in cacti. He said the people who he got it off said it was a trichocereus pachanoi but it doesn't look like it too me.

What do you guys think it is? PC?

I'd say bonafide Pachanoi.

The pointy top probably is because of etiolation due to growing while rooting.

looks like the pachanoi that turns up in nz from time to time (common cultivar there?). it sure is a nice one.

Interesting plant, features of both the non-PC T. pachanoi (waxy reflective skin and rib formation) and T. scopulicola (areoles and nearly spineless).

I just got one that looks similar could probably pass for that plants sister... an old plant out of cali

the only difference is the aereoles on yours look round and the aereoles on this one are ovals

Not knowing much about scops, I think its definitely a Pach and definitely not a PC...The one I got

is also nearly spineless and perhaps the same size as that... near the base has a few visible spines

i've seen plenty of pics of spineless or nearly spineless Pachanois

I was looking at scops on trouts pages and it does't remind me of scop at all eh

better acclimate to brighter sun that tips starting to thin.. the big ones tend to grow b4 rooting

It's definitely a cutting I re potted it in the pot I was given and the roots are only just starting up.

When I first saw it I thought it looked like a scop but scops are so much fatter, Could be mixed with one though

Almost looks like a stenocereus, but it's way too small of a picture to say for certain.

I thought it was the proper spineless scop at first, but after the comment of Smith on the reflective/glossy skin I am having second thoughts.
