hi, an introduction :)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone;

Well I love this forum and have gotten so much out of it, I thought it'd be time to say hi.

I've used this forum mainly for its sheer volume of information, though about 6 mnths ago got jack of not being able to see any images because I wasnt a member... so I joined up. And then didnt get approved for ages ;). My luck to sign up when theres a site glitch haha.

Anyway im a guy, married and young kids ;) I love cactus/ succulents and gardening in general. Ive been trying for a while the typical sth american jungle varieties and now acacia :)

I've also received lots and lots of freebies from members I am keen to plant.!

I love music and have been involved in music in some fashion for most or my life. As with my wife and hopefully my kids. Im more into producing now as I am too busy to practice my instruments....

On that note anyone wanting to record seqld I got a nice little home studio ;)

While I'm advertising I do homemade hand painted guitar effects pedals.

Or need something done in concrete??? Hahahaha I'm pretty into diy!

Anyway. Hi! Ive met some of tje seqld crew already. I hope to meet more of you in the future.!

Here's a bit of my wifes' and my garden, couple cool shots.

Cant show too much of course!

Hey, welcome, and that was a great intro. I actually feel like there's a person behind the avatar for once. That's nice.

And I'm pretty excited to hear more - maybe post something in the "creative" thread if you want some day - about your music work. I make electronic tunes with outdated software and a really nice 88 key controller/keyboard. For the last seven years I've been practising and just do it for the sheer love of it.

Anyway, nice garden, too! Two months back I had to mouse out of a house in the suburbs into a two bedroom apartment with zero outdoor space. It was pretty painful selling off and giving away ALL of my plants, but thanks to forum member IndianDreaming it was actually a pain-free experience. That guy is a fucking saint, I tell you. Not only did he pay me well instead of taking advantage of the fact I had to move out in just two weeks and had no negotiating room, but he also offered to create cutting of nearly EVERY single plant he took so one day I can have baby versions of my original plants.

There are some stellar members on this forum - you won't regret joining it :)

Hi Doublebenno! Welcome welcome.

Lovely garden you and your wifey have there! :)

I was wondering if you could tell me the identity of the plant in the last photo you posted. Very cool looking! I would guess some rad kind of ephiphyllium?

Welcome Doublebenno .

@Ceres, that last photo is of a zigzag cactus of fish bone cactus, Selenicereus anthonanus. It gets very nice pink & white flowers.

Cheers

Thank you all!

The plant in that last photo is indeed a zig zag cactus but thought the real name was cryptocereus anthonyanus. Its a great plant and easily propogated. I could possibly sent a couple cuts if anyone wanted...

Hey DB, it does go under that name as well but most places like Daves Garden, Wiki, Cactus Guide call it Selenicereus & say the name Cryptocereus is a synonym. To be honest I am not sure which name is most up to date but I have always known it as Selenicereus & the majority of sites I look at & the books I own call it Selenicereus. Anyways It is a cool looking plant to have in your collection & rewards you with awesome flowers.

You have some nice plants & I am keen to see more photos from your garden .

Cheers

I have heard selenicereus is a good graft stock, would it be suitable for trich seedlings?
