Cactus pot ID, blueing..

Question

Hey guys I get lots of mushrooms popping up in my plants cos I bring so many home for ID I guess.. But never seen this guy before, and it has small blueing spots. Here are some photos. The only thing it resembles that I've bought home is a gym purp... And they were fruiting in the dead of winter..

Definitely a Gymnopilus, but couldn't tell you which species.

Can you see the blueing from the pics? I am posting off a mobile and will re do it on a computer with better pics if needed... Got maybe 15 coming through. The blueing is what has me interested, and why it's fruiting out of season here (only found gyms in winter before)

Edit; it's gotta be a purp right?!

Ill let the others mature, but I got a fruit a mth ago that was matured at the size of my thumb. Spot on the size of the gyms purps I found. I also found some gyms that were the size of a longneck but these defiantly aren't them.

I didn't look for bluing, just at the features that told me it was a Gym. spp.

No, it doesn't have to be purpuratus, there are other species which bruise that colour (blue/green).

Not G. junonius with that colouring.

Could be G. dilepis, but also out of season in my experience.

Judging by your location, USDA 10, they are likely Gymnopilus luteofolius.

These do appear in potted plants on occasion. They like the bark component.

Thanks karode, I think your spot on! Yes I am zone10, on the odd weather pattern zone9 and coastal. These guys didn't get real big, I will repot the cacti that are in it and spread the soil on some wood chips. Thanks.

I've never heard or seen reference to wild G. luteofolius being found in Australia. Not to say it couldn't be that species, but it makes it less than likely.

Edit: reading into it a little, apparently it has been found in Australia.

The attached PDF is worth a read.
