AbleKay Posted April 23, 2016 spotted these along Byron Creek up north a fortnight ago, some sort of Mycena I think? wish I took more pics of the wedges that had been cut out of the trunk from previous generations, literally looked like an axe had been taken to it. Is this because they grow on the relatively dead bark and then die off when the reach the living wood? phone pics :-/ and this little fella was sprouting from the same trunk, closer to the ground,

Strontium Dawg Posted April 24, 2016 Bugger all down in the southern highlands today. It was surprisingly warm and despite recent rain, apparently it's not enough for a decent flush yet. A couple of lonely amanitas was about all I came across.
jonathan Posted April 24, 2016 Well, here in Victoria I tried a new place a couple of weeks ago after rain..thought it would be too early but was ok....but ironically not much around now. Should be perfect if there was rain...just too dry. Anyway, the Leccinum, Macroleopiota, and Oudemansiella all fried up nicely. Oh, and the Notwotuthinkus? Check out _3 where you can see the rusty cap from being under another cap..rusty brown spores not purple black! So some sort of Cortinarius but not too sure which and who knows whether it could be a liver killer or not. When I first saw the Leccinum I wondered if I had found a Cep! Note these are not identified through spores, just macro features so are just my own thoughts.

Davenwolf Posted April 25, 2016 Has anyone seen these before? Tiny earth stars about 4mm diameter with golden spheres inside. I went back to get better photos and within an hour they were shrivelled up. Mid north coast, high humidity 20c growing on cow poo

gerbil Posted June 22, 2016 I'd say both are from a fox, the kill and the scat. Difficult to ID on a good day, but cat's generally won't signpost with scats like that, open and elevated, whilst foxes and dogs will and often shit near where they kill.
