Hmmm? ID help please.

Question

I picked up this cactus last year & have not put it up for ID before because it looks like it has had a very hard life & I doubt it looks anything like it should. I thought it would have died but it has got plump & green on top & is about to flower, I have know idea what this is & would be greatful for some help in working it out. Here are some photos, I will add one of the open flower in a few days.

Thanks for the advice Snowfella, I had know idea Matucana's could get as big as that or were so diverse. The plant stands at 16cm tall.

@Weirdo, thanks for your help mate. After having a bit a of a look through some photos I think you could be right but another possibility I have seen would be M.weberbaueri. Does anyone know how I can rule out one or the other?

Here are some photos of it flowering today

maybe Matucana weberbaueri, I don't know that genus well, just having a flick through the new cactus lexicon.
