The 2nd photo looks like T. Pach (non PC) to me. The top photo lools Cerus though. Is that meant to be the same plant?

I gave up trying to get names for my Opuntias, even botanists struggle with ID's for them. They can grow differently because of soil type, climate, aspect and growing conditions and they hybridise very easy so it's very difficult.

They (Opuntias) look to be cuts from 2 different plants to me. I have a near spineless cultivar that looks very similar to the one with the thick pads & another one that looks very similar to the one with thin pads.

yeah same question, is that closeup of the tip the same as the one in the back/and or first pic?

My guess is that it or they appear to be Pachanoid/Peruvianoid

I got a peruvianus this year, that looked just like the long one in the back, very light colored, 4 inches thick...

then sprouted a true blue tip! :P

and I agree with Sally D about Opuntias

Ditto. The first pic looks like cuzcoensis, but the tip in the second pic looks unmistakably peruvianoid.

hi eatfoo...............yeah its a 1' pup coming out of base of the tall yellow one......(stress I guess)........I was wondering if it was a spiny trich....1" spines on it.........

thanks SallyD........there are diffinatly 2 different opuntias in the picture...............the one with the thick pads has golfball size red fruit (right side in pic below)................if your's is a spineless cultivator .......does that make your's a Opuntia ficus-indica?...........my fruit doen't look right for that....

heres a pic of the 2 different fruits from opuntias above

so seems to be a concenus..............the unhealthy tall with pup is probably peruvianoid maybe Pachanoid........................it apparently has white flowers...................but so many do............The people had heaps of them but said it never set fruit.............so I'm guessing they were all clones and don't self fertilse.................I should be able to x it with a few plants this season and see what the fruit looks like................its hard figuring these out ...they all look alike.....................thanks all

Look a lot like this variant of T. cuzcoensis I got from Legendary Ethnobotanical Resources back in the day as T. peruvianus. Watch for that pretty tell-tale sign of the "horn colored" spines once it grows out a bit.

sure is a pretty form for a cuzcoid @ both of those... looks nearly the same color as some Tarmaensis plants i've seen

maybe leaning blue green, kinda greyish green at times?

Im finding that alot of plants can look very similar after being weathered for years, especially peruvianoids
