Hi all I've got a bunch of heimia that can be harvested I was thinking of putting it my sister oil extractor. I'm not sure what type she's got. I'm just wondering if I would need a specific type to extract the alkaloid or if it's even possible with an oil extractor?
Cheers

The alkaloid, probably not.

In its native salt form the Heimia alkaloids are water soluble and non-volatile. They are sensitive to both acid and base (including ammonia), but can be precipitated with sodium bicarbonate to form a non-volatile solid precipitate.

The alkaloids have been clinically demonstrated to be bioactive, but they were never demonstrated to be the only bioactive component. So if you have loads and loads and want to play, perhaps heap ferment fresh herb until it smells sweet and try to extract the sweet?

I agree with auxin, heimia loves water as a solvent, and you have to heap ferment the material in the sun for a few day's, and all you add is water...

I learned this from a post, from member t st tantra.
