goodude Posted June 10, 2013 Howdy. Someone has some well established in ground pachanoi. They may also have a lophophora in a small pot reasonably established main head about 20mm diameter with a couple of vsmall pups coming thru. Plan is currently to graft main head of loph onto the pach. The pach doesnt get alot of sun but its pretty happy, will it be alright with a new loph head or unsuccessful cos the loph may require more sun? Ive got more questions but ill try to keep it short... hahaha. Any input is appreciated cos im new at this. THANKYOU

irabionist Posted June 11, 2013 Haha, you should really just do a google search, but here's a useful vid.
irabionist Posted June 11, 2013 although you dont need to make such an elaborate contraption to hold it on, just some rubber bands that are held in place by the pedros spines works well enough, anything to hold the loph in place
goodude Posted June 11, 2013 Thanks people. Keep the helpfulness comin ;)
naja naja Posted June 11, 2013 Pantyhose are best IMO, soft, spreads the downward pressure evenly, has holes to allow fresh air exchange and light and they hook perfectly into the Pedro spines.
Stillman Posted June 11, 2013 I would be a bit wary of grafting a loph to something in the ground in North QLD. Lots of humidity and Rain (mainly concerned at the Graft join). Make sure to "bevel" the pach at the join to allow for rain to run off and not rot out your loph.
goodude Posted June 13, 2013 Thanks mate. Another question, should one graft at morning or evening?
Quixote Posted June 16, 2013 Pantyhose are best IMO, soft, spreads the downward pressure evenly, has holes to allow fresh air exchange and light and they hook perfectly into the Pedro spines. Not to mention that it looks sexy. But if your wife finds out you're dressing up your cactus in lingerie, you may have some explaining to do
