Jox
Hey guys,I took my kids for a walk through the rainforest today & found a fruit I keen to get an ID for. It was about the size of a passion fruit, bright red & shiny. When I cut it in half I was surprised to find just one big seed inside, similar to an avo seed.It came from a s/e QLD, here are a few photos. tarenna
Looks like Endiandra pubens.http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Endiandra~pubensOtherwise could possibly be E. virens? http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/cgi-bin/NSWfl.pl?page=nswfl&lvl=sp&name=Endiandra~virensDid you note the foliage of the parent? That would help nail it. More precise location in SE Qld could also help. There are also some other threatened and restricted large fruited laurels in SE Qld.. Jox
Thanks tarenna, it came from a rainforest track at Tamorine Mountain. I could not tell what tree it had come from, I looked around but couldn't spot any fruit on a tree, there were broken & fallen trees all over the place. I originally went for a walk to see what epiphyts I might come across on any fallen trees but I did not expect to see damage like that.Cheersjox
tarenna
I still reckon Endiandra pubens.
