0 LikeAshesWeFade Posted February 3, 2013 Kinda reminds me of Jacaranda foliage and seed pods. Can't be too sure though it's been a while since I've gandered closely at a Jacky.
0 mushroomman Posted February 3, 2013 I don't think it's a jacaranda but I have only ever seen one type of jacaranda so I could be wrong? Thanks anyway ill have a search
0 LikeAshesWeFade Posted February 3, 2013 I used to prune street trees for a year or so and become pretty familiar with Jacaranda's. It most certainly looks like the same branches I used to pick up, light weight.
0 Jox Posted February 3, 2013 When I first looked at the photo I agreed with Ashes, but having a second look I think I can see large spines coming out from under the leaves? It might just be some kind of African acacia, I would not have a clue which one.
0 poisonshroom Posted February 4, 2013 It is an acacia (if it has spines) - they grow around my place. Iv been trying to identify the species for a while now - most likely an african sp
0 mushroomman Posted February 4, 2013 Yeah it does have spines ,but they are only a couple cm long. the only other African acacias I have seen have had 5cm spines all over them and the seed pods were about 20cm long these are only about 5-6cm long and a different shape. Thanks for the help everyone
0 Zaka Posted February 4, 2013 Irie, Yeah looking like an acacia. Also notice a Leonotis sp in the back ground. Respect, Z

0 Zaka Posted February 9, 2013 nilotica? edit** didn't see the pic of pods. probably not A. nilotica. deffs an acacia sp. though. Irie, I also thought A.nilotica, cos of the coloration of the seeds, which look similar... Respect, Z
0 gerbil Posted February 9, 2013 Possibly Acacia farnesiana / Vachellia farnesiana, said to potentially be here pre-european settlement, via sth/central america or asia.
