is it slugs? it's like the outer skins been stripped only.

yeah i can't see any at night, and there's no snails in the water traps.

any non chemical ways to prevent slugs? they seem to avoid water traps.

Nasty damage, they have really been feasting.

Try beer traps instead, they are attracted to the yeasty smell.

I think they also dislike crunched up egg shells and dry sawdust.

If you wanted to get really serious i would try mixing fine sawdust, egg shells and salt together and sprinkle as a protective border around your plants.. Cruel but i imagine it would be very effective.

copper is also good, they don't seem to touch it. i think it causes electrolysis with their mucus.

all you need to do is strip the insulation off some electrical wire and wrap it around the pot or put it on the soil as a ring around your plants. not just one strand but a bunch. if it doesn't work twist some more wire into the bunch.

or you could cut copper sheet into strips for around the pots but that could get a bit pricey.

i had slugs come into my kitchen each night when i moved house... when i first moved i saw the tracks even before we were bringing in furniture. a quick think had me place salt around the edges etc and i havent seen him since!!

It is likely to be slugs/snails, but if it is there should be tracks.
