8145 Posted October 1, 2012 Hi fellow botanists . I went for a push bike ride around Tempe today and saw these puppies. I got no idea what they as I am just starting to ID cacti and got no clue at Acacias. What do you guys reckon this specie is ? Cheers,

You also need to include ALOT more information. like: flower, leaf (juvenile/adult), seed: type, size, arrangement, etc growing location, soil type, climate, etc was it cultivated, naturalised, or indidgenous? this is just the very basics, it continues to narrow down from there, alot of acacia ID comes down to the little gland on the leaf margin. perhaps include some decent closeup pics of the leaf etc. From my time in Sydney, it does look reminicent of a few of the common coastal ones there good luck

0 PositiveHAL Posted October 1, 2012 you can short cut alot of ID work if you can establish if its indigenous to Sydney (and not something growing in someones garden). If thats the case then get yourself a decent flora of Sydney book from the library and try your luck that way. there's only one thing harder then ID'in Acacia and thats grasses
