cactuscarl Posted July 11, 2012 Nice score that first Peru seems rather unusual @ distracted i just asked them to order more trichocereus and have picked up a few nice ones since then iv even asked for specifics like the crested Peru from Hamiltons i haven't got that one yet but they said they would call me when it comes in
myco Posted July 11, 2012 Wow very nice I wish the local bunnings would not only get more better stock like this but they would actually label them to I can't believe you got cacti from bunnings that is actually labeled
lhb2444 Posted July 11, 2012 Yeah I was pretty surprised there to myco as usually everything I see is labelled as some sort of cereus. This was definitely the best selection I've seen them have at the bunnings on bourke rd in alexandria too, its usually nothing special.
tedzr Posted July 11, 2012 Might have to get down to our friendly monopoly vendor who doesn't sell sieves. What Bunnings did you get them from?
lhb2444 Posted July 13, 2012 They came from the bunnings in alexandria on the corner of bourke rd and gardeners rd.
gtarman Posted October 1, 2012 It always feels strange finding ethno stuff in garden centres...when I was in Bunnings the other day they had a few different Tricho's...but all of them were simply labelled "Blue Torch" regardless of the actual species. By my guesstimate there was a pach, maybe a bridgesii and a peruvianus or two. Then when I was in a locally owned nursery later the same week I came across a plant labelled Randia Fitzalanii...the native FNQ rainforest shrub/tree, which based on it's appearance and name I would say was synonymous with Psychotria Fitzalanii, sometimes offered in the SAB nursery...though I'm unsure whether or not that's an active one. Khala Posted October 6, 2012 Cool man, can't believe you found perus at bunnings. I'm going to have to go and have a look now.
r2pi Posted October 6, 2012 Is there a chance they're not T. peruvianus? I haven't seen T. peru seedlings before but they don't look a lot like the grown-ups of that species.
lhb2444 Posted October 6, 2012 Yeah I guess there's a chance they may not be but I've got no clue as to what else they be. Any suggestions?
Evil Genius Posted October 6, 2012 To me it does look like a Trichocereus. Well, the ribs are very flat so i´d probably suspect this to be turning into a Cuzcoensis one day but apart from that, i have no concerns right now.
