shruman Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) Hey all just found a few Cork Oak acorns, Dunno what the interest in them would be but if you want them give us a yell. They make good truffle trees apparently. Have always been a magical tree with natural magnetism for me & obviously a long history of human usage. I thought they were endangered, but maybe thats a myth?, The IUCN redlist has them as unassessed. The IUCN red list is a pretty good tool if you have'nt used it check it out sometime: http://www.iucnredli...etails/151962/0 Edited April 30, 2012 by shruman

shruman Posted May 1, 2012 No wuckers mate chuck us ur addy Had a couple of bites so I'll give it a week & divide up what I have. I have been watching these trees for some time & could'nt spot any Acorns up in the branches but low & behold there they were scattered underneath, quite thin & long compared to most Acorns I have seen. I imagine the wood would be good for mushrooms being Oak, but the bark might make it hard for myc to get inside but I wonder how they would go in a log raft?, I wonder if they would dry out to quick or the bark would make them ultimate pithy sponges? mud Posted May 1, 2012 have a look, I think it can pay to store em in wet paper in the fridge.. takes up to a year cold treatment for em to germinate and then 20+ year to produce more acorns : (
